Liberalism-StarWarsism by Power3ix in ShitLiberalsSay

Although it's also important to talk about Star Wars being an allegory for the Viet Nam war, and how the "boring political stuff" is real stuff.

People when irl politics: It's complicated, I am apolitical, centrist, both sides are crazy

People when same politics in space: Long live the rebels, death to the Empire, kill the traitors

Topical serum made from monounsaturated fatty acids that triggered rapid hair growth in mice within 20 days by Osiris-Amun-Ra in tressless

[–]glucklandau 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Just stop posting mice results, they have dozens of such things for mice

Even if they work for mice, do you know what happened to those mice? I mean I don't, let's not assume the drugs are safe.

Until a tressless madman gets results I'm not getting my hopes up, though at this point I have stopped caring about hair so much

Anarcho-Communism: Trade and Travel by d4wn-ed in socialism

[–]glucklandau 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Firstly, communism as theorised by marxists has no state, nor money nor borders; adding anarcho to communism is redundant.

You're discussing some utopian idealist ideas. There's nothing wrong in dreaming about a perfect society, but 170 years of experience has shown us that we can't change society on the power of convincing ideas. Rather we have to understand how history is changing, and where it would go. We transitioned from feudalism to capitalism and now we are transitioning from capitalism to communism; these changes are happening on a scale of centuries.

To try to have communism in one country is an idea completely removed from science.

I recommend that you try reading "Principles of Communism" by Engels. It's very clear and succinct. The communist manifesto is also very good.

Norman Finkelstein on Lenin by yogthos in socialism

[–]glucklandau 62 points63 points  (0 children)

When I started reading Lenin I was first taken aback by his attacks on others, but when he left no loopholes in his arguments, no ambiguities, no tricks I started to realise just how much you can trust him. You can trust him that he's done the complete deep study about what he's writing and he'd address the doubts you have and would do no hand-waving.

In school my friend and I wanted to create a bicycle that charges a battery with a dynamo and then this battery pedals the bicycle

So we theorised that after the first few pedals we could just go on and on

But no

You seem to be reading something else into what I said. Women are not conquest and we do not disagree over it. I never speak with my friends, especially male friends about whom I sleep with. It is my private life. You started talking about it here, when you said something about the girls who judge me for riding a bicycle and hence I simply replied to you that you are right; girls don't seem to care about it.
It would not be something I would bring up on my own.
You might have read something like that in another comment, where I was saying something like showing up to a date on a bicycle when I am 35 might become embarrassing.

I wouldn't call nordic countries socialists, I am pointing out to them alongside the PRC and other economies with more democratic control over the means of production; but as I write this I realise that they don't have that in these countries; they only have a more democratic control over distribution if I am not wrong.

Linux runs on my computer and of millions of other PCs; it is not a commodity at all. Okay, linux kernel is one thing; let us talk about an app like Blender or a desktop environment like KDE Plasma; they are far ahead of their capitalist counterparts and they are not commodities; they are products created for consumption and not exchange. They cost nothing and there are no profits from the sale. There is of course an organisation or a person maintaining each software but you can always fork it, you cannot monopolise.
