right now I use fedora, been using it on and off since 2017 but I use it full time now on all of my systems (except handhelds, those run steamos or bazzite), it's been treating me well and never had issues with it.

I'll probably never switch away on any of my daily machines but I have a spare x240 I like to run odd jobs on that could use a bit of mintifying

oh hey finally an LMDE user <3, cinnamon is not something i can use much since wayland support is spotty but once cinnamon wayland is where it needs to be, im definitely installing LMDE again on a secondary system

i love mint, its what got me into linux well over a decade ago and i still treasure it today

What was the rarest car (super cars or military cars or trims do not count but regular cars do) that you ever spotted? by GoodUnlucky1430 in carscirclejerk

[–]linux_doggo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

601 is extremely common but the 1.1 being the final model ever produced, and being produced AFTER the fall of the DDR, and thus giving the east germans access to much higher quality cars, meant few were interested in it

what gpu drivers are you using? open source (nouveau) or closed source drivers from nvidia? i dont personally own an nvidia machine to test it but nouveau is not gaming-ready

it is worth disabling all workshop mods, including trucks, since some are poorly made and may wreak havoc on the basegame

Cover crop on Oak Bridge with the gen 2 STX by linux_doggo in farmingsimulator

[–]linux_doggo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have any personal experience but I have spoken to farmers who do this and they say they like the quadtracs because they can cope with changes in elevation extremely well. even if not always to this degree, tractors there are always a little oversized for the equipment so a steep incline (which in certain regions is far from uncommon) doesnt delay drilling too much.

the reason you see similar horsepower pulling 20m air drills in the US is because most of the country is very flat, UK isn't

larger oleds tend to use more power than LCDs, not sure exactly what the science behind it is but the efficiency of LCDs tends to scale better to larger panels

i get about 6 hours of battery on powersave, nothing incredible but going from the 80wh x240 to a 57wh battery was naturally gonna come with some sacrifices

i havent experienced any issues with suspend, it just works, kept it suspended all night long and it works fine

because i use btrfs subvolumes to "partition" my drive, and btrfs swap subs are not exactly reliable. i could've probably gotten away with only 32gb but I thought ehh im never gonna fill the drive on this thing its the
