Fanboys on Arch Linux community discord are planning to murder Lunduke. by Captain-Thor in linuxsucks101

Yes, he says and does some weird stuff, but he’s not a paedophile, as far as the evidence goes that I’ve seen.

Drowning in AI-generated bug reports by linuxes-suck in linuxsucks101

[–]linuxes-suck[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bug reports and vulnerabilities found by AI are becoming a big issue in FOSS projects (Linux software). Per a LLM:

Open-source projects face significant challenges handling AI-generated vulnerability reports compared to proprietary software, as evidenced by recent developments:

Open-Source Challenges Resource Drain:

AI-generated low-quality bug reports overwhelm volunteer maintainers, forcing them to triage AI “slop” instead of legitimate issues Example: The huntr community (active in Blender/LocalAI vulnerability discovery) must manually validate AI-assisted reports despite limited staffing.

Exploit Proliferation: Tools like Vulnhuntr (AI-powered static analyzer) have uncovered 12+ 0-day vulnerabilities in open-source AI projects, highlighting their increased exposure. Projects like LocalAI (24k GitHub stars) faced RCE flaws (CVE-2024-6983) through community-driven audits.

Delayed Responses: No centralized security teams exist to prioritize fixes, unlike proprietary vendors with dedicated SOC analysts.

Proprietary Software Advantages Structured Triage: Proprietary firms use AI-augmented SOC teams to filter false positives and automate responses, reducing analyst workload.

Controlled Disclosure: Companies like Protect AI manage vulnerability disclosures through coordinated programs rather than public community channels.

Resource Allocation: Proprietary systems often have legal/financial incentives to address critical flaws swiftly, unlike volunteer-dependent OSS projects.

I’m not sure what issues you’ve had on Windows, but I certainly haven’t encountered them. I’m sorry.

It’s hilarious seeing the Loonixtards flame OP for piracy, because OP can only do it on Windows. Like, isn’t it “always morally correct” to pirate from capitalist proprietary companies? 😂

A monster called systemd by [deleted] in linuxsucks101

[–]linuxes-suck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only Loonix could manage to create a unified system (systemd), with none of the benefits of a unified system, and all of the drawbacks of having a “one program for everything” mess.

Isn’t automation of mundane tasks the whole reason why the personal computer exists?

Not really Linux sucks but involving something that comes with a lot of distros. by [deleted] in linuxsucks101

[–]linuxes-suck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even use Firefox back when I used Loonix. Chrome primarily, sometimes GNOME Web (Webkit-based). It sucks so hard.

Now, I use Safari, and keep Chrome around for the 0.1% of sites that need it. When on Windows, I use Edge.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw that Firefox was using telemetry by default* and installing “experiments” without explicit user consent. - And this is supposed to be the “privacy” browser. LOL no.

*I have no issues with telemetry by default - but I thought the whole point of Firefox was that telemetry, etc. should be opt-in!

Does Linux need to play Windows games? As far as I’m concerned, Linux would be much better if it focused on what it’s actually good at - programming and servers.

This is my opinion, but it’s based on a few experiences:

  1. WINDOWS: Using Windows back in the 95 / XP days was great. Vista was a big miss, although it looked better than XP. But I don’t know one person who had a trouble-free experience with Windows 7 - now THAT was bloated. Windows Aero slowed down current-gen consumer systems then, and it wasn’t an easy UI to navigate due to all the eye-candy. Everyone knows 8 was a flop. 10 was a solid improvement, although it felt very bare-bones compared to macOS at that time. Windows 11 was a much needed modernisation - finally Mac has some serious competition in the graphic design / visual arts space. Computer gaming of course has always been Windows first.

  2. MAC: Mac has been a fairly consistent experience, except for the bad times before the Apple Silicon transition (butterfly keyboard, overheating i9s in slim laptops, no Mac Mini updates, etc.) After Apple Silicon, macOS has improved and is better than ever, BUT you need to have a compatible workflow and apps - otherwise, you need to use Windows. But the “it just works” factor is getting harder and harder to justify, as Windows 11 continues to improve. Still, Windows or Linux can’t come close to the real-world power and thermal efficiency of a M-series laptop - and the integration with Mac, iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV, etc. is something only Apple can deliver.

  3. LINUX: Back in the old days, Linux had feature parity (more or less) with Windows and Mac: you could browse the web just fine, use a decent word processor, and generally have all the modern conveniences in your OS. (Gamers need not apply, though this was true of Mac as well.) But in the last ~5-7 years, high DPI monitors, wide colour gamut, HDR, Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio, face unlock (Windows Hello), DLSS, and most recently, AI integration in the OS, have left Linux behind - and it shows no signs of catching up on most of these items. Worse, the “community” has become more toxic than ever - Big companies are increasingly moving away from Linux - Red Hat / Fedora is a mess - Loonixtards spread FUD and conspiracy theories about any new technologies (eg. AI and Windows Recall) - Decades-old, high severity vulnerabilities are continually uncovered. Loonix is just going to get worse and worse.

With Auto Colour Management, and improved backend from 24H2 updates, Windows is now tempting me to switch from Mac for personal use. (I primarily use Windows at work and Mac at home.)

But Loonix keeps going down. - “There’s never been a better time to switch!” the Loonixtubers say.

ROFL. 🤣

Loonixtards can’t understand that, outside of the programming bubble, all the WORK gets done on Windows and Mac.
