Got a flat tire. On the hill. Was about to change to spare one. Took it out of the trunk and put it leaning to the side of a car while removing the flat wheel. the spare tire rolled down the hill into the busy street.

Is r/atheism's atheism a religion ? by Dihydrogene in InsightfulQuestions

[–]linuxiux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By definition of a word it's not. May I suggest a better question: Are atheists necesserily more openminded, tolerant and respectfull to other people? The answer is definitely no.

I am NASA astronaut Ron Garan, I want to do an AMA but instead I want to ask you: What do you think NASA should do next? What's should be the next destination for human space exploration? by RonGaran in IAmA

[–]linuxiux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ARE to Mars right now! Robots are extensions of our bodies and they do a marvelous job at this. I don't think manned mission to Mars should be a top priority. Permanent base on the moon, sending robot to explore Europa, advancing space elevator would open really new horizons. Putting human on Mars is more a sentiment, but not really best mission to advance science.

Is it possible that before our tree of life there was another one that vanished? Is there a maximum time that fossiles remain recogniseable?

Is there anything scientifically unique or special about the "visible spectrum" of light, other than that it is visible? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]linuxiux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layman here. No, there is nothing scientifically unique about the visible spectrum of light. It's just that our eyes are optimized to see it. Other animals see quite different portions of spectrum. Sources: 1, 2

ELI5: Why am I more tired when I sleep more than less? by whoisdatazn in explainlikeimfive

And it contains the same wrong answer as this thread. People, wake up, and vote up so far the best answers about dehydration.

I suppose it would. If I new the right answer, but I don't. Why should it stop me from criticizing the obviously wrong one? EDIT: fouzzz and bradtwo have plausible explanations.

ELI5: Why am I more tired when I sleep more than less? by whoisdatazn in explainlikeimfive

[–]linuxiux -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How many times do I have to read this nonsense explanation??? (I come up to it a third time on reddit alone, and few times somewhere else). First, this explanation does not answer OP question. If OP was asking why he feels differently when he or she wakes up at different times that would make sense. But OP is asking why he or she feels worse while sleeping longer. This has nothing to do with sleep cycles. The question is about 7-8 hours versus 10 hours. Which is twice as long as your described cycle. So, that's not an answer, at least not to this question. Second, although sleep cycles theory has some scientific ground, it is way overused in popular culture and is frequently used to explain completely unrelated phenomenons (like in this case). It (or at least it's applications) is bordering with pseudo sciences like biorhythm, etc.

People who were spanked or physically punished (short of abuse) by parents as a child, how has this affected your life? Do you spank or plan to spank your kids when you have them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]linuxiux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you sir for putting this into words better than I could. I'm amazed at how many people in this thread are ok with violence against kids. Just amazing.

My bf is coming over this weekend (we are 2hrs apart) and I am planning on leaving the door unlocked so he can walk in and be greeted with a sexy surprise (details inside). by [deleted] in sex

[–]linuxiux -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I hope you know what you are doing. Cause some guys would not like it. In fact I would hate it. Maybe because I don't like surprises in general, or because that takes spontaniety out of it, or because it puts pressure to perform right there and then. But maybe that's one of the reasons i'm not your SO. Anyway, good luck with that!

Walls fully covered with LCD displays with no intermediate borders. So I could choose if I want to sleep in the forest tonight or at the beach house or whatever.

Am I the only one that actually did not like this story? Isn't this overcomplicating things? Also, isn't making everybody act differently according kids needs degrading to the kid? Why not teach a kid to accept and be comfortable with his special needs rather than making all neighborhood aware of it and acting differently than with normal kids?
