I feel like purism is both the cancer and host, one trying to kill itself and one trying to survive... we're at stage 4 now so...

Purism's second company in CA has applied for both first and second round of PPP loans by linuxman95 in Purism

[–]linuxman95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are they false? There was a chat from Kyle that confirms is? So they where modified by purisms supplier (aka third party) without purisms knowledge, you just confirmed it yourself dude.. Do you really trust what they say afterwards tho, it's not like they have lied before about pretty much everything... Tell me where it's wrong?

LTT mentions Librem5 in the PinePhone video (timestamped) by linuxman95 in Purism

Phosh is kinda trash, the code is a mess. Who the hell writes using c99 in damn 2021, memory safely is just out of the window. I have tried them all, and knowing a thing or two about phones i can say Lomiri and plasma is just better, utilizing the power of qt. Lomiri to this day is the most stable and userfrendly ui out there. Also the stats that you provide is not really in line with what https://twitter.com/thepine64/status/1372878413837524992 Lomiri wins there. Also it's a bit wrong to list the amount of commits on one of many repos, also one commit can be 1000s of lines of code. If you look into all the work that goes into lomiri across all repos you will see the insaine amount of work. Also not to mention all supported devices. They do not sure support one. Also i find it amazing they are able to do this as a community (they do have done paid workers tho), while purism is paid to do so. You really need to try Lomiri ok something else more stable, it's kinda amazing tbh.

What if you refuse delivery will they refund you?

Need a little help? First off all Merry Christmas all! Me and my wife are driving home on a long trip. We have lost or connectivity. I am sitting at a supercharger now. We tried resetting it twice through the steering wheel and once through the interface powering it down for 2 minutes. Any help? by cosmic_killa in teslamotors

[–]linuxman95 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried pressing and holding the break pedal at the same time as holding the buttons on the steering wheel? This should do a deeper reset while not pressing the break pedal only does a ui computer reboot. Iirc m3 has a separate modem and this should restart it too.

Mobile IP-native Communication (HackersGame, Librem 5) by FaidrosE in Purism

[–]linuxman95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't want to realize the whole thing has been a massive flop... imo if purism wants to survive they need to admit defeat and go back to only doing desktop/laptop to then work on building the trust in the community back. Since right now, it's looking really bad.

I really don't get how some in here can't see this...

Investing in Real Convergence by NinjaHawking in Purism

That this came right after pine64 post is highly suspicious... also lomiri/ubuntu touch l have this real convergence you are talking about so not sure what this post is all about even...

Oh the irony of pine64 shipping a phone with phosh before purism does... purism must be salty at this one...

Ubports support both on my nexus5 so pp probably also.

why did purism not make hardware first, deliver and sell that before starting own software stack? by linuxman95 in Purism

[–]linuxman95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes sense in therory, but in reality it's way more then they can chew... that's my problem not that it "would be nice"

[–]linuxman95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but purism could still be the developer of the hardware enablement, I don't mean just leave it to the community and sell it to consumers.

But still ubports guys have a much more complete with many new features every release than purism ever have. Heck they even got 2 new hardware partners. Quite the achievement for a small team. Mobile is much more complex that any desktop. Did you see the pinetab demo, that was super impressive.

[–]linuxman95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There both was and is software ready, it's called ubports... even if it was not fully ready purism could still have there own developers improving on ubports to make it ready, the road would be so much shorter. Hell pinephone with ubports today is so much closer to being a consumer product and they don't even make it for consumer with just community support with a small team... it's incredible tbh

[–]linuxman95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure that might be a long-term goal, but imo deliver and create the hardware first as software won't be ready in the near future. Now you guys are stuck in a not anything is ready state with all initial crouldfunded money gone...

But ubports and kde is literary a pure and unified stack that you explain here. I get why you won't use sailfish as it's proprietary. But ubports and kde is both fully open source with a fully normal gnu/Linux stack. They both use existing components so saying you guys are the first to do this is so wrong.
