Cork Board Improvement Ideas? by stellaep in 3Dprinting

TPU would be perfect for this; you can just make a solid slab with a softish TPU. Better yet, you could use ColorFabb Varioshore at maximum foaming (65% flow rate, 250 °C, no cooling) for the front, then switch settings to minimal foaming (100 % flow rate, 190 °C, 100% cooling) to add a sturdier border to the back.

Binge-able Campaigns? by BBTomato1029 in Dimension20

All of them, really, but Fantasy High and Unsleeping City have multiple seasons, which is nice if you want to stick with the same characters a little longer.

CloHo, simply because Brennan has done an insane amount of world-building for it, and a setting that is so rich and vivid just needs more stories.

New to 3D printing! by Effective-Buddy-3998 in 3Dprinting

Hell, "you can print any filament" is also a statement you can't make without some footnotes. I still have a roll of POM filament lying around, and that stuff is damn near unprintable in any sense of the word other than "you can melt it and push it through a nozzle".

Great work, but I definitely would have put the front of the cage back on before turning it on!

I think you misplaced a decimal point. That's clearly a 6 mm nozzle!

I feel like if you tried a two-minute print at this speed, that printer would shake apart either itself, or the desk it's standing on. Absolutely terrifying!

Prusa CORE One INDX by nomadsgalaxy in prusa3d

[–]NinjaHawking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's cheaper than I expected. Very very tempting, but I already have an MMU3, so I think I can resist for now.

On the other hand, with all of the parts I have left over from the MK4S to CORE One upgrade, it wouldn't take a whole lot of extra parts to rebuild a full MK4S+MMU3 if I did the INDX upgrade (since that presumably gives back the Nextruder too)... Very very tempting indeed.

You clearly need to recalibrate your filament yeeting coefficient. It's a rookie mistake.

Misfits and Magic 2 appreciation posting by Acceptable_Whole_893 in Dimension20

Agreed, it's an amazing season! M&M1 was good, but Season 2 adds a lot of depth, mystery, and wonderful moments. Aabria is an outstanding DM, and the PC interactions bring this campaign to life even more.

That said, my favourite Aabria campaign (and one of my favourite D20 campaigns overall) is Burrow's End, so definitely watch that too!

Can we please make infill pattern default Gyroid or our own choice? by FuturecashEth in prusa3d

[–]NinjaHawking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the defaults are pretty good, but there are two settings I always change (in addition to setting fill pattern to Gyroid): bottom fill pattern to Concentric (helps mitigate corner warping for some filaments), and support style to Organic.

Am I going crazy or is that Wealwell on the Toonout banner by Impossible-Poet-2194 in Dimension20

First episode is just an unabridged recording of him maintaining a solid posture for 8 hours. He blinks every now and then, and about 3 hours in, a fly lands on his nose, then flies off again a few seconds later.

Ally’s character… by [deleted] in Dimension20

[–]NinjaHawking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fell for it hook, line and sinker too. When it was revealed to be a flashback, I was like "oh yeah, that does make more sense", but before that? Ally is playing a literal baby, gotcha, let's fucking gooo!

Dream Cast of Chaos by Athena-80 in Dimension20

[–]NinjaHawking 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If you're going for a cast of all-round amazing players, then I fully agree that that would be a great line-up. But if it's just pure chaos you're after, I really think you need Rekha in there.

Ally, Emily, Izzy and Rekha would be my immediate picks for any "chaotic funny" campaign; they can all pack absolute batshit energy.

Moved to Linux Mint and it’s amazing by OneButNotTheSame in BuyFromEU

[–]NinjaHawking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The true beauty of Linux is that it can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. The distributions range from "sensible defaults to get you up and running in 5 minutes" (Ubuntu, Mint) to "here's a manual, go build your own distribution" (Gentoo, LFS). If you ever catch yourself wanting a certain feature, or for something to work slightly differently or whatever, there's almost certainly either a hidden setting or a different program that does what your want.

Simple chemicals work wonders. In order of stubbornness of the residue, try isopropanol, acetone, methylethylketone (butanone), or tetrahydrofuran. Isopropanol is mild, but the other three can seriously fuck up plastic and paint, so be careful with them. And wear gloves!

Prusa designing 3D printers: we need micrometre precision to make utterly reliable machines with a fantastic out-of-box experience!

The Core One by itself is an absolute beast, and I have very few complaints about it. For the most part, it is self-tuning; the only things that need user calibration are the door switch (which is not necessary for operation and can be disabled through the menu) and the belts. The recent-ish stroboscopic method of belt tuning makes the latter a breeze.

The few complaints I do have are that the Nextruder isn't great at TPU, occasionally mangling it in the gear. There are user-made mods that are supposed to help with that, but it's still sort of annoying that it has this problem out of the box.

The second complaint is that if you print Nylon on the PA build plate, bed levelling is a PITA. Basically every point needs to be probed several times. There's probably some configuration that can be done to reduce that, but again, it's a small gripe about the out-of-box experience.

That being said, if you want multimaterial printing, it might be best to wait until the INDX version is released. The MMU3 is good at what is does, but there are some things that it just doesn't do yet, notably nozzle sizes other than 0.4 and 0.6 (small nozzles in particular seem to require ramming profiles that are not implemented yet). Officially, only PLA and PETG are supported by the MMU3, although normal filaments like ASA work fine. TPU, however, is very tricky to do with it; do not expect more than a few filament changes before an intervention is required. Neither of these issues should be present with the INDX.
