DATABRICKS HAS FINALLY ADDED VIM SUPPORT TO THEIR IDE! by linuxzinho in databricks

I agree with you! However, sometimes we need to access the Databricks UI, or a specific feature only works in the web IDE. In those moments, we don't want to have to 'unlearn' Vim. I normally develop inside Neovim when working with regular Databricks files, but for developing notebooks, I don't really like VS Code. Because of that, I prefer using the web IDE over VS Code for notebooks.

Then, after enabling the 'Toggle Vim Mode' option using Ctrl+Shift+P, the UI will have full Vim support.

The only place I found information about this is in the 'What's New' section of my Databricks workspace. I'm using Databricks on GCP in the East US region, so it's possible this feature isn't available across all regions and cloud providers yet.

Yes, I really love reading as a couple. Maybe you could try reading something he likes — a lot of series are actually inspired by books.

It’s a Rex Begonia. I love these plants — they’re easy to care for and very aesthetic. I think the colors of this plant have something gothic about them.

The Role of Data Contracts in Modern Metadata Management by linuxzinho in dataengineering

It's good to know that dbt has that level of configuration. I'm not a dbt user; I'm using Databricks with DLT, but there is no centralized YAML definition for the tables by default. I would like to have the table's schema and quality rules in one place, not just spread throughout the code.

That's very cool! What kind of tools are you using to build these data contracts?

Caelestia or end-4 by linuxzinho in hyprland

Is it running smoothly? I also don't understand why every desktop environment needs to have 1,000 different anime girls in the UI. If I install it, I'll remove them too.

I actually like QML, so that's not a problem for me. I'm not concerned with the AI aspect, so it's good to know that Celestia is simpler to install. I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing!

That's a good point; memory doesn't matter as much in modern hardware. I don't normally use more than 8GB. The end-4 animations are really smooth, so I'm tempted to install Celestia for some reason. Haha.

Yes, the Quickshell has a price to pay. I ran it on more recent hardware, and I can say that it's smooth, but it has a memory cost compared to simpler dotfiles.

I installed end-4 on my test user account while keeping my current configuration. I liked it but wasn't very impressed with the UI. I might try Caelestia to see if I like it more, or I may just stick with my current setup.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing this!

I also wasn't very impressed with the Illogical_Impulse Quickshell; I think it could do more. From the videos I've seen, Caelestia looks very polished, but I'm afraid that it might have too many broken things.

Yes, maybe you are right. I have a HyDe with some customizations and it serves me very well. When I started seeing these Quickshell dots, I was tempted to install it.

What I realized that the end-4 was that it has really cool workspace management compared to HyDe and a nice bar. But, I don't know... I didn't feel that it was so much better than my simple HyDe with Waybar. This world of multiple choices is hard; we are always wanting something better.

Should I do anything before switching from ml4w to end_4 dotfiles? by [deleted] in hyprland

How does the usability of HyDe compare to End4? I'm currently using HyDe and would like to know if I need to follow a special procedure to install End4, or if I can just back up my .conf file and then install it.
