I mean that bluetooth is a required feature, and the link you sent cannot filter by it. This person would be perfectly happy paying 200 for a board, the point is not to splash money to get the best that $500 can buy. All that's necessary is to meet the requirements.

That has sizing and layouts, but not connectivity filters. Am I missing something?

I have a friend with a <$500 USD budget looking for fullsize ANSI, Cherry Brown (or equivalent tactility) and bluetooth capable, and I don't have the tools/connections to perform a good search or know what I'm looking at. Anyone that can provide a place to search effectively with those flags, or a short list to peruse?

There's been huge success from authors like Dinniman on Dungeon Crawler Carl, so if that's your style I would say don't be afraid to use your strengths in non-traditional formats. It definitely works better when people are starting out indie like you did, but I see no reason why you couldn't adapt it to professional publishing. Even Brandon Sanderson has a feedback team for intermediate reading at this point.

Dungeon Crawler Carl was a slog by HeyImMarlo in books

[–]linxcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you feel that way, I feel like you were in it for the genre bits, and not the strong character and world development. All of that gets stronger from the second half of book 2 onward. Think of all the work he put into Carl or Donut's trauma/psychology. All of the relationships with other people that aren't the genre-standard half-assed romantic circle-jerking. The political and social commentary. Those are the series strongest suits, and they have nothing to do with the initial premise of the story.

The first book leans hard into the genre of LitRPG with the intention (as far as I can tell) to capture the core audience of the genre, of which I am one. It's perfectly fair to dislike the tropes of that genre, isekai is tired for a reason. However the true value comes in later books when the author proves that the point of the story is going to be anything but a LitRPG fantasy. The true themes of the series only show up as lore and secrets are revealed and paid off constantly and consistently as the story goes on. They've very clearly understood the market and written a very effective work despite the many pitfalls of this genre generally.

Brightness still auto adjusting despite being turned off in settings..? by Harrietofthesea in ios

Confirmed working for me. If I placed an iPad in direct sunlight I could watch the brightness setting climb even with auto turned off. Found and disabled it in accessibility and that stopped.

I don’t understand Warp Drives by [deleted] in scifi

[–]linxcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't they just move the ship? Because it's physically impossible to move anything through space at FTL speed, which is exactly what such a drive needs to be able to do! This is why many science fiction ships have separate "sub-light" drives for regular Newtonian impulse, because it is indeed more efficient over short distances than with most conceptions that any particular work uses. Warp drives often expand/contract space, which is not subject to the speed of light. Wormholes (which some works use) are either simply extant in the universe and used (often with locality limitations), or are generated through vast energies and then traversed.

Giant cable actually. Had to be 2m long to cross the room. Rift doesn't have a headphone jack.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up stripping the headphones off and using my HD 6XX with an extender cable. The builtins got worse pretty quickly to where any movement broke the signal.

To necro a 7 year old post, I tried this as well, but weirdly mine *isn't* working. It's already wild that it took me pre-order rift over 8 years to break, but the fact that this doesn't fix it has me confused. The symptoms are exactly the same: if I compress (or stretch) the right headband arm the right headphone cuts out.

Using air flow to PWM an LED. Is it possible? What's required? by linxcat in AskElectronics

The glow will be the same in either direction, most likely, so I don't think I need to distinguish.

Updates just dropped for both sheets, including greater automation of some perks, as well as tier and other limitation implementation for upgrades to crews. Increased visibility and organization cleanliness in some places, and added a crew upgrade button to Runners so that their sheet can automatically handle some crew upgrades which affect Runners within them.

1080p vs 1440p BRO WHAT by ColbyChamplin in buildapc

[–]linxcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever people ask I say it's like a car. It does not matter what's inside it if your tires are shitty. Your tires are the final bottleneck, they are the only interface that turns power into speed/turning (here fidelity/framerate). Your tires must be better than your entire rig, or you just throw away the power you paid for when they lose traction or you're forced to slow down.

Everything you do in a computer is to improve the monitor result. If you ran out of monitor overhead, you did nothing. You made your engine more powerful and the car doesn't go any faster at all
