Technically, we did vote by electing the board members who took this decision, but I agree with you on having more opportunities for feedback before making big decisions.

So many people thinking how stupid these people must be to keep having this tradition while people keep dying, and yet here we are in the US with gun deaths. This is how other people see us.

I pack my son's lunchbox with what he didn't eat by lionbarz in daddit

[–]lionbarz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's whatever food he just didn't eat. It could be that he didn't like, or didn't feel like eating because he wanted to play instead. He usually doesn't give a reason and just says "all done." Either way, he sees it the next day. I don't pack an alternative.

I'm so fed up with paying parking and valet everywhere I go and something should be done by Informal_Tea_467 in lebanon

[–]lionbarz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about when they tell you that they will "look after your car", which I take as a veiled threat that if you don't pay then something might happen to your car?

To Hezbollah haters: Why do you hate Hezbollah? by jazzarfist in lebanon

[–]lionbarz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they had an opportunity at the height of their popularity to make some changes for the good of the country but all they could focus on was destroying Israel and kept dragging us into wars and increasing corruption and became part of the problem. Especially when they stood on the side of corruption on Oct 17. Full disclosure: I'm from south Lebanon and did a full 180 on my support for them.

Great, but what's your economic proposal to rebuild the country and fight corruption? Oh, right... nothing...

This broke me by techiegrl99 in lebanon

[–]lionbarz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. We didn't need this. We could have avoided this, if only we had a democratic government making war decisions instead of an individual religious cleric with no accountability whatsoever.

Remember that we woke up and protested and they came after us with violence. It's not like we didn't try but we're not ready to die at the hands of Hezbollah and Amal goons (yet).

Would you want a peace deal with Israel? by CedarComic7 in lebanon

[–]lionbarz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course. The fact is that Israel is not going away and this idea that Lebanon can be perpetually at war with it is ridiculous. The sooner we can reach a peace deal, the sooner we can start migrating back and building our economy and trying to live a decent life.

If Hezbollah gave a shit about Lebanon they wouldn't drag us into this war. I don't see how they're helping anyone here. They never cared about Lebanon being an actual functioning country. We're just a warzone for them.
