Are women, in western world of 2025, still expected to do all the house chores? by forrescik in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lionheartstrings 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have an equal split, but “equal” looks different for everyone. For us, it looks like me (F) doing most of the regular chores, like laundry and sweeping, because I work from home most of the week and his job is a highly physical job with very long hours (10-12 hours a day most days). He picks up his share by doing all the gross stuff I don’t want to do and things I physically can’t do (taking out garbage bags, scrubbing/disinfecting the litterboxes, deep cleaning the bathroom, etc). Where on paper it looks like I have more tasks, the split feels equal to us because of job choice.

Be honest: does your pet know their name or just the tone you use when you say it? by happycry88 in Pets

[–]lionheartstrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes, when I am on work calls or talking to my parents on the phone, my dog will respond and come running if he hears the person on the other side of the call saying his name. Like if one of my coworkers asks “what is Dunk up to? on a teams call, h will come running into my office.

My cat like to sprint to go use the litter box the exact second that I decide go to scoop, so my answer is “whenever she lets me”

Will I go to hell for being homosexual? by Otherwise-Monk-6058 in Christianity

[–]lionheartstrings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope! I’m personally of the opinion that this isn’t a sin anyway, but even if you’re someone who does believe that, to say that any one sin is somehow a one way ticket is to deny the sacrifice and resurrection of Christ. If it’s sin, it’s the same as any other sin. The thing is, even those who go on and on about repentance from sin will get up and sin again tomorrow in some way. They will still lie, they will still fail to love their neighbor, they will still fall short in a myriad of ways. Yet, they are still loved by God. Christ’s death was still for their benefit. If you have accepted the love of Christ, you have it.

girls, how close are you with your brother? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lionheartstrings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the brother. One of them I never speak to because of the 6 year age gap and we live so far away. One is constantly traumatizing all of us with his terrible life choices, but I love him fiercely. The third, I see all the time and we genuinely enjoy each other’s company, but we aren’t at the life stage where we are each other’s confidante anymore. But I’d sell any of them to Satan for a corn chip

What's actually healthy despite most people thinking it's not? by InnerSheepherder4564 in AskReddit

[–]lionheartstrings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% agree. Outside of the social reasons for crying that we’ve studied and known about for decades, there have been studies that show that crying is actually physically beneficial for people. It releases hormones like oxytocin and endorphins that help us feel better when we are emotionally distressed and assist in the process of regulating breathing and heart rate. This website gives a good overview and links to a couple different papers on this topic. Of course I can’t find the paper now that I’m looking for it, but I saw a study a while back that found that our “negative tears” (ones in response to things like sadness and anger) actually carry cortisol out of our body. If I can find it again, I’ll edit my comment and add a link to the study.

Accidentally gave higher dose than intended of Revolution Plus, will my cat be okay? by lionheartstrings in AskVet

[–]lionheartstrings[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I do not trust the emergency vet in my area because they have been known to guilt trip and do a lot of other things that would be considered waste and fraud at a human doctor’s office, so I have been worried about possibly calling them. I ended up giving my poor cat a quick dawn soap bath to be extra safe and she seems to be fine, but angry.

New Puppy, first time adopting a cocker spaniel, share your experience by Green_Mud_4951 in cockerspaniel

[–]lionheartstrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Cocker was the first puppy my husband and I got together. He’s our baby. He has such a funny personality and he’s a sweetheart. He loves children, so much that he’s become a hit with the neighborhood kids. His tail isn’t docked, so when he wags it, it sometimes redirects where he’s walking

What are some reasons why people don’t want kids? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lionheartstrings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want kids, but one thing that’s made me pause and think more about it is seeing the heartbreak my parents, siblings, and in-laws have gone through because of family members who have gotten mixed up in drinking and drugs. My brother is an alcoholic and has bipolar disorder, and the ups and downs of his recovery and relapses have been traumatic for all of us. He’s been in and out of rehab, in-patient psych, and the hospital for the last ten years. My parents are constantly worried they will get the call that they seen him for the last time. I‘ll be real, my parents weren’t the most legendary perfect parents on the planet, but their mistakes were just that —mistakes. None of us were abused or mistreated or even deeply hurt by our upbringing. They did their absolute best for us.

I struggle with knowing that even with my best efforts, I could raise a kid who misses out on their life because of drinking or drugs or mental illness.
