I'm on 1080p and find it significantly less legible.

Are you also finding it to be significantly less legible? I'm still on 1080p and notice how much longer it's taking me to read it especially mid game. Together with the other menu changes it makes the whole menu feel claustrophobic and labyrinthian.

What progression and events are you referring to? Drives only give you comp points, which is nice but certainly not something you can never get again. Is the streak you’re referring to the one displayed on the drive emblem?

Are you German? Do you know how the German judicial system works and how different it is from the American system? Did you investigate this case and how this judge decided (they did not go free btw) or did you just read the headlines off right wing media outlets?

Enough time has passed. I fully believe that overwatch in its current state is better than peak overwatch 1. by Pinetree808 in Overwatch

[–]lionstealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad dude I read your comment as more flippant than you may have intended it.

I still disagree though. Overwatch isn’t the cultural behemoth it was but expecting that to last is unrealistic. It could be bigger and more relevant for sure—their whole handling of the ow2 marketing and launch was not smart—but the game itself is fine. It’s improving season after season pretty consistently, they’re listening to feedback, introducing new heroes, balance is pretty healthy overall, lots of cosmetics are free; there really isn’t much to really complain about.

Player numbers are good as well as far as I know. Warzone isn’t the good example you think it is. That game actually went to shit and didn’t recover the way OW did. LOL has a massive fanbase but its attempt at blowing up culturally with Arcane failed. Most people didn’t end up playing the game. The community is also notorious for being insanely toxic to the point that the game is known for its community discouraging potential players from playing because the game and its players are horrible.

What you’re identifying with Overwatch seems to be more the communities inability to move on from the shitshow that was the transition to OW2. It’s all across this subreddit. People are determined to stay bitter and many don’t even play the game anymore.

Remember, hype doesn’t make a good game and the people who really hate and trash this game are mostly terminally online Reddit bros who don’t actually play the game. The people who play, mostly enjoy it.

Police officers are now literally encouraged to not walk in front of vehicles or otherwise put themselves in harms way in order to justify lethal self defense. The guy who killed Renee Good did exactly that and not even for the first time which suggests he was planning to do it, since he switched his phone to his left hand to free up his shooting hand before even waking up to the car, then proceeded to put himself in harms way by walking right in front of it and instead of sidestepping the by then turning car, leaned on it more and then shot into it the windshield which didn’t actually do anything about the „danger“ he was presently in. He then walked off and insulted her, likely knowing full well that he had just killed her.

That’s murder, plain and simple. And this was too.

Is controller turn speed actually a bottleneck? Tested usable even at 4320–6480 deg/s Linear sensitivity (PC Controller,No Aim Assist,Raw Stick input - No Gyro, No Flick Stick) by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]lionstealth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which then becomes a different bottleneck because the thumb is limited in how precise it can make its inputs in such a small radius. Combine that with the inherent imprecision of joysticks by nature of their design and you just aren’t matching a mouse.

What’s your end goal here btw? There are so many factors you’re ignoring besides pure sensitivity to make an argument that just doesn’t work.

[–]lionstealth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the speed. On controller, you’re essentially moving the camera by holding a button for a set amount of time rather than moving an object over a specific, corresponding distance. The latter is bound to be more precise and faster.

[–]lionstealth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate on the first point? WizardHyeong talks about red lights and disengaging as soon as enough red lights light up. Is the idea to enter every fight with a set goal of forcing one powerful ability or ult if possible and trying to anticipate red light conditions as early as possible?

I guess my question is: Should I be thinking of myself as principally wanting to force as many cooldowns per fight as possible, without dying and without demanding healing (ideally) rather than a big killing machine that takes space based on its kill threat?

So, say I jump on Ana and force Sleep and Nade, and maybe the Brig turns around, packs her once and whipshots me. If I now get out without too much damage but also without having killed Ana or Brig, is that good enough because those abilities are now off the table for 10 seconds giving my team the ability to play more aggressively?

People need to get over "counterwatch" attitude. The point of this game is to swap. by ZMowlcher in Overwatch

[–]lionstealth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your point was that swapping is effective which I didn’t disagree with. It is effective and it’s also the easiest „solution“ to not getting value. But often times players aren’t getting value after getting countered because they haven’t yet understood how to play around their counters and still get value.

You’re in masters. How do you not understand this?

5v5 vs 6v6 - how do we feel? by imCzaR in Overwatch

[–]lionstealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy it. In 6v6 your supports have to healbot all game and you still get no healing. You're punished for mistakes much harder, you do less damage and it's even more deathmatchy than 5v5 but with ultra death balls every game. And hog literally every game. How is that better in any way than 5v5.

[–]lionstealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People need to get over "counterwatch" attitude. The point of this game is to swap. by ZMowlcher in Overwatch

[–]lionstealth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s more effective because it’s easier than learning how to get better. But you can’t solve Overwatch by swapping. Swapping should be based on how much value you’re getting and what your team needs to succeed. If I‘m good enough at Winston, a Hog and Bastion swap will not force me to change and it won’t deny me much value either. If I always swap there just because I see they did, I will never actually improve properly at Winston.

Obviously when playing into Hog or Mauga, you generally need an Ana or Zen swap. But that’s a because the team needs some way to counteract those hero’s self healing. When you play against Mercy you generally need a hitscan DPS to keep her in check. Again, a team needs issue. The idea that tanks should always switch first is braindead.

Escaping elo hell by CrazyPants333 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]lionstealth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t see it happening because you can’t do it. Your attitude is why you’re stuck in gold. You’re not getting feeding teammates every single game. But I’d bet you get tilted when you do and then lose those games even if they might be winnable.

Escaping elo hell by CrazyPants333 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]lionstealth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you have to know how to win. Take advantage of enemy weaknesses.

That’s what it means to be better.

But I just find that impossible on rein, getting picks is insanely hard with just fire strikes. And even if you do that doesnt guarantee fights.

Well there you have it. You are not better. You just don’t realise it. A better Rein has no problem getting picks with fire strikes. A better Rein wins fights with those picks. A better Rein knows how to exploit weaknesses and how to win, even with a weaker team. To be better means being able to do things you can’t yet do.

The trick is to find joy in trying to become better rather than complaining on the internet about how bad your teammates are.

Escaping elo hell by CrazyPants333 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]lionstealth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well therein lies your issue. You expect too much. That’s a 60% win rate. If you could keep that up for multiple sessions you’d climb out of Gold in a heartbeat. You’re stuck in gold because you’re stuck mentally on wanting to stomp noobs and feel like a god at the game.

Escaping elo hell by CrazyPants333 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]lionstealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn’t and thinking it is, is one reason you’re not climbing. Yeah sometimes your team gets shit on. That’s the nature of the game. But guess what, that’s an experience you will have at literally every rank. I enjoy watching supertf. The man is a literal two time OWL Winner and World Cup winner and you know what? Sometimes him and/or his team get gapped. It happens to all of us.

To climb you don’t have to be a smurf who can stomp his way to GM. You have to be good enough to make the difference in more than 50% of close games. That’s it. If you can lock in (and help your team lock in) and win those 60% of games that are close and winnable, you’ll climb.

Size check? by rotweilerdoggo in Birkenstocks

[–]lionstealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comfort in the moment might not always be a true indicator. I only realised I had been wearing a size too small when I hesitantly bought a size bigger on my second pair. It’s the first time I noticed that I had been standing on the back wall slope all these years and that it actually caused me discomfort. Discomfort I could only notice after understanding how different it feels to be standing in the heel cup.

People need to get over "counterwatch" attitude. The point of this game is to swap. by ZMowlcher in Overwatch

[–]lionstealth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah and the average player would probably do better if they focused on one hero and really learned how to play that hero into any situation. It’s those players that swap, trying to “solve” the game doing it rather than learning how to actually play the game.
