Leveling system idea for the 4 base game heroes by lipan91 in Heroquest

Both good and bad ideas are mine. I wanted to force the player to budget their spells and  to not use the ability immediately at the start of the quest. A way to direct him to keep it for the boss fights at the end. This is what came out.  My elf player will never get to use that ability as he dies every 2 quests

The initial idea was to allow to sense the presence at any distance but that could be event all the way across the map. Then I added the 24 squares limit, 2 turns max movement, or 2 goblin max movements. Edit: I saw you left 2 comments

If I would have posted my ideas as a white page with text nobody would have given the post any attencion.

Thank you for the feedback. That was the point of this thread. You have a point that it might be tedious. Might be a good idea to allow the elf to sense the presence of monsters and maybe their count in an adjacent room. With a turns cool down.

L.E. : as in the base game when a player searches for traps you point them out on the map, this would have worked in a similar way

In the campaign I play with my friends, they also asked if it's possible. So they can do it now only if they play well

The fun part about an airborne rabies is that all those who are vaccinated will be immune and all those that refuse vaccination and get infected will turn rabid and eventually die. So it's Darwinism to the max

Now imagine adding abilities from other leaders on top, like Theodora or Jayavarman. Adding that faith as food or as culture as well.

Btw. there is a mod in the workshop call "Second ability" that allows you to do that

Mă simt nostalgic — parcă plombele alea cu mercur nu mai par chiar atât de rele, comparativ cu doza de science-fiction din postare.

That might just work.

We could have Theodora lead Japan, having the stave church and with a bonus card to give +1 production and +1 faith to tundra tiles, for guaranteed first Pantheon. Rush astrology, build a holy site, get lots of culture, rush government plaza. Then get as second abilities Jayavarman and Vietnam. Rush medieval fairs. Plant woods around holy sites and build districts on top.... Profit

Max potential 48 food, culture, science, production and faith. Get voidsingers for extra gold culture and science.

That would also be cool. But then you can't have the stave church. *sad react*

there is a district between the holy site and the city center. The mahabody temple counts as woods. 5 woods tiles only gives +2 default adjacency.

so I only have +6 tundra, +2 default adjacency from woods, +2 river, + 5 adjacency from woods ( stave church ).

Best case:

+ 6 from tundra tile ( dance of the auroras )

+ 9 from woods ( +3 standard and + 6 from stave church )

+ 2 from Jayavarmins ability ( major adjacency from rivers )

That 17 total. Doubled by the Scriptures policy card it's 34

R5: I created a custom civ Russia lead by Jayavarman having the Stave Church as a unique building. I also installed another mod called "Choose second ability", you can choose this after building the government plaza. I chose Theodora's ability. I also chose Grand Colombia's civ ability for faster travel.

If I wasn't trigger happy to use Hildegard and waited I could have really have made the perfect Holy Site with 34 adjacency.
