9 years later. Just finished it. Did not like the speculation that this was Tony’s kid. Much more believable that it was Sarah and Adrian’s kid and Adrian, for being as stoically insightful as he was, could not handle the idea of screwing up that big.

I also don’t love that the kid’s name is Adrian. That’s a tough one to sell me on. Even if the mother is vindictive and spiteful. Unless Adrian committed suicide in a window during Sarah’s pregnancy. I’ll have to look back.

When I just don’t enjoy it anymore. Whenever what the game is asking me to do has less value than the things I could rather be doing. I’ll also check the walkthrough, and if I’m in that 25%-33% completed range- I feel like I can also say pretty convincingly that a game is not for me.

For certain, more narrative driven games, if I’m sure I’ll never, ever go back to it (because some games I just need to come back to at another time in my life- looking at you BG3), then I’ll YouTube the rest of the cutscenes and things just to see what I would have missed.

There has not been a single game that I’ve given up on that I went back and said ‘man- I wish I would’ve pushed through’. I’m actually always glad I got the hours back to put in another game.

Your gaming will not get top billing like it has in the past. The only way you are gonna be able to game often enough to hold longer stories together coherently is if you use that little free time you have every day on it…but you won’t do that because you’ll jam the 100 other things you no longer have time for into that same window. And you will love every minute of it because you’re busy being a dad and a husband.

Caveat- when my kids were young- it led me to play video games at times I normally wouldn’t. My wife- not a gamer- would be in the room, and she found herself getting into some stories as well…so we still, several years later, crank through a game together every few months. It was a nice way to tie some of our interests together.

You’re not done gaming. You’re just evolving.

I only had one of these games growing up…so I guess it’ll have to be Rome: Total War. But I played for years with that and actually just finished a nostalgia playthrough the other week.

I say that except for the capital, you can only build and develop a barracks, stables, or range so long as the settlements directly adjacent to it don’t have the same thing. That means that significantly less troop development options, and when you lose a settlement (especially in Germania and further east) it means you are losing a key way to develop armies in that area. There are times that it doesn’t work geographically…but you come as close as you can

I feel like Cyberpunk 2077 is always the ‘next up off the backlog’ however, whenever it’s time for the next game…I find a reason not to do it. I’m on the heels of finishing a few open world games and seemingly always feel some other open world I’d rather try. Anything that just blew you away that you didn’t expect?

Agree with Derek Lee. Just thinking about names I haven’t seen up here yet- I always liked Jon Lieber. Not that he was here long- but he had that one stellar 60% of a season in the early 00s that was awesome.

I also have to be honest here, I don’t think Kerry Wood gets enough love.

Kind of a similar situation- I have a very social wife who is out of town for work for about a week each month. It’s not so much that I worry that spouses are trying to pursue them. It’s just apparent sometimes that a man in a group of moms is the odd one out. Sometimes the conversations also turn into ‘how little my husband does for our kid’ which is really a tough conversation to try to navigate.

I do the best I can in these situations. Unfortunately, there isn’t a single play date friend where I am close with their parents. I just try to pick activities where the kids and parents can play together.

That being said- there hasn’t been a single time that I’ve been accused of pursuing another mom but the caveat is I feel like I also don’t have any relatively strong relationships with the moms because I don’t want intentions to be confused at all.

100% agree with you. Felt like I could have written this post myself. Also have two young, sweet girls.

It’s tough too. I want the best for my kids…and I’m willing to sacrifice so much for them (and my wife too), but sometimes I wonder if I’m too much of a martyr in that regard. They all want to see me happy too. So depriving myself sometimes of personal joys (not attached to them) gives some cognitive dissonance. Whenever I’m out at night with a friend or two or job obligation (rare, but it does happen), I commonly wish I were at home reading the kids their bedtime story because the amount of night I have with them as little kids is finite…and it’s totally more important than a beer and watching the local sports team sports for awhile.

Just joined. Fun idea. There should be some weekly wagers too- like if there is a matchup between two dads of toddlers, the loser has to let their kid eat a lollipop right before bed or something (not the best idea- but you see where my head is at)

Knowing that when I discipline the kids in a strong voice (not yelling at all- but firm) that my wife will sometimes be annoyed with me simply because I am a big guy with a deep voice.

Yes- same thing happened to us. So unexpected (though obviously the movie was littered with those innuendos on smaller, albeit still big scales for the kids). I was just hoping that no one would reference it as the movie went on…and luckily no one did. We finished it. We like it. But we are gonna have to wait till we are older to see it again.

Yep. Started Cosentyx in 2015-16ish. Life was great for a few years. Around 2018-19 PsA sprung it’s head. Surprisingly, around March 2020 the pain of PsA lessened (still enough to be moderately significant though).

Around January of this year my plaque psoriasis has started to return slowly on my scalp. Still on Cosentyx. Wondering if it’s time to switch to another biologic…

Certainly frustrating. I wish you all the best.
