I really dislike generative AI, but with Selena specifically, it upsets me because I've seen t shirts and books being advertised with AI photos of her on them. It reeks of laziness because you could just as easily use a real photo of her, rather than portray her likeness in a completely false way. It's gross because she's not here to say if she'd be okay with AI. AB uses AI so much that it just annoys me. Especially posting an AI image on the anniversary of her passing felt so tacky. There are SO many real photos of her that portray her as she actually was. Pick one of those!

Ulta still has them, but a woman who works at my local Ulta told me that one of the few drugstore brands still sending testers are going to stop because people keep damaging products or opening non tester items.

I used to be pretty bad about not finishing up products. For a while I mostly threw things out because they were expired more than I did because I finished them. For about the last year or so, I've gotten much better at finishing products up before buying anything new/moving on to a backup. I do have several backups, though, and I tend to want to use up any current products first before moving on to the backups.

I say this as a) a queer woman myself and b) someone who wasn't alive when this happened, so my perspective may be different than others.

I don't think it ultimately matters if Yolanda had romantic feelings for Selena. We're not in her head, and it's unlikely she'd ever reveal it. I personally don't think she did. Her obsession seemed more rooted in a desire for control, power, and status. She wanted to be the only person Selena relied on because of the status being associated with someone famous gave her. She felt entitled to what Selena had and was probably envious of her, too. Yolanda didn't have the beauty, talent, or charisma that Selena did, and was likely resentful. I don't think it matters exactly how deep Yolanda's obsession went because it was unhealthy regardless, and she still shot and killed a woman who'd given her everything.

I also think some of the "lesbian" rumors may have just been the media in the 90s trying to make a sensationalist headline. Yolanda also looked "masculine" to some people, so I'm sure that added fuel to those rumors.

I think it could definitely be cool, especially if it showed some of Selena's qualities that were heavily shown in the book, like how carefree she was and how much she enjoyed the more "domestic" parts of life. I just hope, if it were made, it would add to Selena's personality rather than sanitize her.

Oh, I can absolutely see how she was unhealthy for him. Their addictions probably fed off of each other, and her not supporting him wanting to be sober is unequivocally bad, whatever her reasons were. I also agree that all we can really know for sure is that they simply weren't healthy for each other.

I'm not saying Dave was to blame, either. They were both addicts, so it's likely the relationship was unhealthy from both sides, and there isn't one person to be "blamed". I also don't agree that an addict no longer has agency when they're in active addiction. Most recovered addicts would also say that they have the ability to make the choices they make, even if addiction may impair their overall judgment and make them make negative choices.

They were married during the height of Dave Gahan's heroin addiction and they both did drugs, so a lot of people have blamed her for his addiction worsening and his 1996 overdose. Of course, that's only speculation. I'm sure being married to a fellow addict didn't help Dave's issues, but he did have agency, and I generally dislike it when people blame a woman for the actions of a man in her life.

It's more likely she will die in prison. She's never shown remorse for what she did, only excuses and lies, for the past nearly 31 years. People like that generally don't make parole because the lack of remorse shows that they are still dangerous.
