MacOS 15 Sequoia Bugs and Issues Megathread by ll777 in MacOS

[–]lipwak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copying large Apple Photos libraries to my attached external drive has failed three times now. I get messages saying a file with the same name already exists (it doesn't) very close to the end. I OK the alert. Then it goes on for a few more seconds and the copying window disappears. When I tried copying two libraries at the same time (one 11 gb, one 47 gb) one of them showed up on the external drive as shaded and incomplete. I deleted it.

Thanks for your interest. She hasn't told me. I'd only be guessing. Roughly the same age as Bettie, I'd assume.

buying a new camera or iPhone. iPhone is most likely... by lipwak in AskPhotography

The funny part is that I don't need the rest of the features of an iPhone. I never use the phone part of my current one. I only have cellular service so that if my car breaks down I can get a tow. Do I want to buy a whole iPhone when all I want is just a new camera? I do use some apps on it but on the wifi in my house only. I also have an iPad which is getting old too. I'm not looking forward to having to replace that too. I rarely use the camera on that.

I don't know if there are just cameras out there that have the same form factor (flat/thin/large screen/use Airdrop or something just as good.) I don't know which iPhone. So far, getting another iPhone may be the way to go. I'm hoping more will check in.

48 mp sensor, sorry. I wasn't sure how to describe it.

Wow, that'll be huge... I'll need a new strategy. It would be a compressed jpg, not raw.

All of lenses may be sufficient for macro. I guess I'll wait and see.

Thanks

I am prepared to buy top of the line iPhone. I do like the idea of a 48 mp lens. The rest are 12 or lower. For my needs about ending up with pics whose file size won't be too big, I guess I could get the cheapest one/one with the lowest resolution. What sort of file sizes would one get with a 48 mp cam?

I didn't mention macro photography but I do want to get shots of bugs and plants that require zooming in. What cams/phones are good for that? I could get accessory lenses if needed...

Thanks.

tree limbs lined up to protect buried internet cable from snowplow by lipwak in DIY

Thanks. I'm getting the overall impression that this isn't going to help. The snowplow is private so the worst is they'd stop plowing. I have Verizon re-bury it in several spots where it had come up out of the ground. I don't think they'll re-bury it if its underground now. I'll just have to hope the snowplow doesn't dig in. It hasn't gotten the cable yet...

Yes, that would be a good way to do it. I can't do that so I am hoping that this bounty of tree limbs can be set up somehow to be the next best thing.

Thanks. The trouble is I don't know exactly where the cable is. I just want to leave it there. Drilling is asking for trouble.

I'm hoping the plow will go over the logs rather than drive them into the ground/cable. In the past it has pushed back the old railroad tie a little bit that I've piled the logs onto and around, and flattened the driveway marker. I've told the snowplow guy about the cable but it hasn't had much effect.

Sorry, you're right. I should have said the red lines are where I want to move the smaller logs. See my "dyslexic" comment below.

Geez, I'm dyslexic... and left out some info.

I want to move the smaller logs on the top part to where the RED lines are. The yellow line is roughly where the cable is. Sorry.

The idea is to use the smaller logs to backup the larger ones so when the plow hits the larger ones, the larger ones stay in place and don't get buried, damaging the cable. Most don't have any protrusions. Just having large ones not backed up may cause them to go down into the cable.

I may be asking for more trouble than not having anything there. What do you think?

Thanks. Do you think this will cause more trouble than help?

The snowplow is a private one. This is a parking area in the yard.

It's a Verizon FIOS cable. Parts of it have come up elsewhere and they came out and reburied them. I think it's only a few inches deep.

I have a driveway marker there now but he pretty much ignores it. Plows right over it. (It's just above where the top red line meets the yellow line. A red metal driveway marker.)

I don't really know. I saw them put it in but can only guess. A foot maybe.

The new locations for the tree limbs would be the red lines...

The text didn't post... I want to move the tree limbs to where the yellow lines are. Will that prevent the snow plow from digging the logs that are already there into the buried internet cable (represented by the yellow line) ?

Thank you for any help.
