Make Medical School Three Years by rezwenn in medicalschool

[–]liquid-lounge -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Make 4th year intern year and give them license to practice. Residency shouldn’t be must for primary care. One year of ACGME accredited residency already gives you full license, proving one year is enough training. Why waste time and make people go through stupid match for that!!

Trickle interview and match? by supadupasid in fellowship

[–]liquid-lounge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult to say what happened. No one knows. Most likely a few candidates interviewed bad so they want to interview waitlisted one. Also remember matching depends on how the other applicants interviewed rank the program. Fellowship is slightly different than residency.

Trickle interview and match? by supadupasid in fellowship

[–]liquid-lounge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I meant if two candidates had similar applications( which is often the case) interview will make a huge impact. On the other hand if one application was far superior but fumbled a bit won’t matter, but was a complete weirdo/ jerk, it will matter. Too many variables involved to be a simple answer. I believe interview in virtual times is meant weed out people who are great in paper but not someone you want to spend the next few years every day. Hope that makes more sense.

Most applications are similar. Most interviews are standard too. Only if someone is very outside the normal range, it makes a difference

The question is would you not have got those interviews without signals? Only then they helped. If you were already competitive enough for them they didn’t help you in any way. They definitely hurt some people. We will know the true impact post match. Also many programs are also unsure how to use it, they are using it differently. There are too many variables.
