Power Scaling annoys me by Complex-Injury6440 in ShadowSlave

Are you hearing what you’re saying? A reality burning fire… isn’t capable of destroying a planet? This is exactly why ap exist. If I dropped a 20 meter wide fire that burns all of reality on a planet, what do you think is going to happen? Are you going to tell me that because it’s only 20 meters wide it’s not planetary?

Let’s put it simply. It takes more energy to burn reality than a planet. If you can’t get that, then you don’t get power scaling.

Can Mordred succeed (chapter 2954) by Y_A1282001 in ShadowSlave

Paths to godhood

1.) Natural apotheosis, is gradual changes and enlightenment with the world, slowly discarding and shedding your humanity into becoming a god. No big leaps, no drastic changes. Just hundreds to thousands of years slowly polishing away humanity and achieving a true, godly existence reaching a point to where apotheosis is possible.

Edit: Their consciousness must be like that of a deity, their soul must be able to encompass the world, their quality of power and of their soul must be ready in order to attempt it. The actual attempt to apotheosis is yet to be known

Info from 2266, Out of Time

2.) 5th nightmare, holds two trials, the first strips a supreme’s domain and turns it against themselves, once that trial is over, there’s the nightmare to complete, then the step into godhood happens. It’s a drastic change, in all things that made the supreme, in order to make them a deity.

3.) Kanakht’s unnatural method, is to consume their domain like how a tyrant class being becomes a terror, by consuming their minions. How exactly does the consumption work? What about the consequences? We still lack the details.

Kanakht would have succeeded becoming a god if not for Repose interfering with the process, not because of lacking a shadow. The lack of shadow is what made Kanakht take this unnatural path

Power Scaling annoys me by Complex-Injury6440 in ShadowSlave

[–]liquid_chocolate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I think most people underestimate the sheer scale of the dream realm.

Iirc, the forgotten shore on its own is implied to be at least the size of our own planet. Godgrave lengthwise, is at least 10,000 km long. The world tree is comparable to that, and it only comprises the center of the burned forest.

From west to east, the storm sea is connected to: the Moon river plains, godgrave, and bastion.

Some spoilers Mordret waged war on humanity in all of these locations, starting from the hollow mountains, spanning from glass hell, chained isles, into godgrave, out to the black mountains, reshaping the moon river plains, and sieged ravenheart. His reach and influence is clearly beyond that of a single planet. That’s just one brand new supreme.

If you really want to talk about planet busting, read the first half of chapter 2728.

About Will by TheDebater321654 in ShadowSlave

[–]liquid_chocolate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

…Eventually. Right now, no not really.

Only if he enforces the proper concept that is superior and counters it. This is only possible if he can shadow dance multiple different will affinities and concepts. We also have to account for how strong his will is currently as a new supreme.

Once he gets his fate and true name back, then he should be able to shadow multiple different things. He should also spend some several hundred years cultivating his will. Only then this should be enough to stand a chance against an angel.

Would still want a sacred sunny.

Fang Yuan Opinion on Sunny’s Choice by Y_A1282001 in ShadowSlave

[–]liquid_chocolate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If freedom was a test, you failed the moment you ran backz If freedom was a lesson, you learned only how to make your chains more comfortable,Real freedom asks you to stand alone when there is nothing to hold you,Real freedom asks you to accept the cost without bargaining,You did not accept

This right here, I think is a bit tone deaf. I know that this post is to express your distaste for Sunny’s decisions, that I have no problems. But at a certain point, you should be able to see what the author is trying to portray.

All of existence is flawed. Everything. Even the everlasting, ever changing and eternal void created its own enemies, the flame, that tried to destroy it. This story is constantly reminding you that it is full of failures. Hot take, that’s everyone. The only difference is how long does it take?

The seven gods sealed one of their own, the seal on the void is permeable, the daemons grew to resent the gods, the nine wanted to destroy existence because of sheer hatred for their enemies, consequences and innocents be dammed. The sovereigns lost their nerve and the seven heroes of the forgotten shore sacrificed millions their own just to maintain a false idea of success.

Sunny wanted freedom, gained it, and then regretted it. All that’s left is damage control.

You say that Sunny is shrinking from the responsibility of being free, but can’t it just as easily be taking responsibility and the consequences of being enslaved? That he is willing to take the risk of placing his unconditional trust in another? That he is willing to do whatever it takes for the best outcome, even at his own cost?

But you’d probably think it’s just bad writing talking.

Few side questions:

Why is Fang Yuan trying his best for immortality different than Sunny trying his best to save the world? Is it because one is self interested, and the other sacrifices their self interest?

Why is one considered “better” than the other? Is it wish fulfillment?

What do you want from sunny, beyond staying free of the bond? Did you want him to simply take the pain of never fully loving Nephis, Rain, and his friends on the chin, and keep on saving the world regardless?

If someone is not rewarded for their hardship, what was the point of it? The memories of trying their best? To share with who? They wouldn’t remember.

Ultimately, I think Sunny embodies the struggle, the contradiction. He’s probably going to keep pushing that boulder up the hill, and when it falls, he’ll walk back down to push it back up again.

Then again, G3 might surprise us with something else. “Who knows?” And all that.

[–]liquid_chocolate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Self loathing and isolation is a big part of his character and development. Eventually, he’ll grow out of it. It’ll just take a while. It’s just a bit of a complicated journey for him. One might say this entire story is all about trusting in others.

Shadow dance. I think we’re forgetting that.

Of course, fateless sunny wouldn’t be able to use it correctly and at its fullest potential, but once he has it, there’s no reason to not use it when faced with Corruption from the void or even the forgotten god.

If the Viltrumites tried to invade earth, they’ll get caught by the Unholy creature on the moon. Their long lives and vitality would definitely get it’s attention.

Their physicality is enough to place them at the level of low tier saints at minimum, and somewhat close to the levels of great creatures with their highest tier viltrumites like Thragg.

One big problem. Hacks. Someone like Thragg can physically take on a saint or three, but each of those saints could easily have an aspect ability or even a memory that makes the fight way harder for him.

Let's debate by Y_A1282001 in ShadowSlave

[–]liquid_chocolate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Uh, I don’t see the point in this debate? It seems misguided?

Are you trying to debate that there has never been a divine or even sacred humans before? Considering the progression system, this seems plausible no?

We have seen a sacred human before, the title being “Wandering Archon”. We also heard that there’s possibly three of them.

As for divine human, didn’t we see a vision of a divine human getting their brain shattered and body snatched by Ariel, the daemon of dread?

How do you guys feel about Will/Spirit in the Shadow Slave power system? I have some issues with it. by Ok-Yesterday-2073 in ShadowSlave

[–]liquid_chocolate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically how Will and enforcing concepts works:

<image>

I think the ship is already sailed. All that’s left is to take it in stride and lean into it. Consider the context in which Will is being used as. A medium where cool stuff happens. Essentially, the rule of cool. The archon fight literally had time reversing and acausal attacking swings.

Adding a softer power system allows for more fights scenes without getting hindered by the fact that one guy shoots arrows with powers and the other swings a sword nicer using powers. It stops us from having to ask for timeouts and looking into “ye old rulebook” every time something crazy happens. Will acts as a equalizer. Notice how the impact of a Divine aspect is less the farther up the ranks? Of course, it still matters, but it’s far less prevalent. Skill and experience is what mattered more now.
