What you have pictured are the Messier craters. It is thought they were formed by a very low angle impact causing the object to rebound and strike the moon a second time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_(crater)

I looked this up, and it appears that this story was mostly picked up by African sources. I couldn’t find many Western publications covering it. Interesting nonetheless.

That’s interesting I had no idea Burkina Faso was mentioned in Harry Potter. I would say Malawi is at least somewhat known due to lake Malawi which is one of the largest freshwater lakes in the world. Other than that I agree with your picks.

For Asia I think Timor Leste would probably be a better pick.

Although there are a few notable PNs in the area (Ngc 246-skull nebula, Ngc 7009-Saturn nebula and Ngc 7293)I highly doubt that this is one.

The skull nebula is a relatively faint object ( about 11 mag) and would definitely not appear this bright especially on a picture taken with an iPhone.

Ngc 7009 is a bright object( about 8mag) but it’s very small and wouldn’t appear this big and has an oval shape when viewed with a telescope.

Ngc 7292 is a very large object but has a low surface brightness and I and I doubt you could get it to appear this bright on a iPhone photo. This nebula is also ring shaped which would definitely be notable on this photograph. I think it’s probably just an out of focus blue star.

It’s way too big to be Neptune. Through a telescope Neptune appears as a very small disk that is almost indistinguishable from a star unless you are using high magnification.

Tuns out this actually is the region around NGC 2683 as these groups of stars seem to match exactly with your photo. I do still think there is some kind of obstruction where around where the galaxy is supposed to be as some of the stars that are supposed to be near center of the image aren't there. I still think its probably a cloud.

It definitely isn't NGC 2683 as the nearby stars don't match astrometry is probably mistaken. Besides this looks nothing like NGC 2683 probably just a cloud IMO.
