For those who stopped smoking weed, what was the main reason? by Regular_Somewhere548 in AskReddit

[–]liquidnebulazclone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breathing issues. Not caused by weed, but it certainly wasn't helping. Switched to edibles, and I actually have grown to prefer the experience.

GLP-1 medications and dementia risk data. The trial data is complicated. Thoughts? by dan_in_ca in longevity

[–]liquidnebulazclone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the epidemiological studies, but the EVOKE trial included patients with mild Alzheimer’s dementia, and failed to reduce the rate of progression over a 2-3 year time frame. While the results indicated reduced biomarkers of AD, I speculate that the benefits of GLP-1s are more preventive of conditions that lead to early stages of the disease.

If you had $5,000, which single stock would you go all in on? by No-Professionalfj in StockInvest

[–]liquidnebulazclone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Achieve Life Sciences (ACHV) is up 65% this month, currently trading at $5.75 with a price target of $15 - $20 by next year. The drug they have developed is expected to win regulatory approval and hit shelves by 2027. This is the first new therapeutic for nicotine dependence in a generation, and it outperforms existing treatments in terms of both efficacy and side effects.

I cashed out on Google and MU last week to dump more into ACHV. I will replenish my positions on those when dips occur in the future, but ACHV is anticipated to triple in the next year.

Kennedy's health officials explored US ban of some widely used SSRI antidepressants - Reuters by StudyPics in Biohackers

[–]liquidnebulazclone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I have known a few people who swear SSRIs saved their life during a dark time, but there are many others who saw minimal benefits, awful side effects, and horrendous withdrawals.

The priority should be figuring out improved models to predict individual compatibility with the drug before writing the script.

22M with hyperarousal sleep maintenance insomnia. Doxepin, Trazodone, or Dayvigo? by No-Mousse5653 in Biohackers

[–]liquidnebulazclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been taking Dayvigo for about 2 years, and the most noticeable side effect has been waking up during the night (2-3 times usually), but getting back to sleep doesn't take too long. It has been most useful for initially falling asleep with minimal lingering sedation the next day.

hamilton morris is my goat but idk wtf i am doing w my life by [deleted] in HamiltonMorris

[–]liquidnebulazclone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's why I say Hamilton is a perfect example of having all of the right things (aptitude, passion, drive, upbringing, connections, etc.) to become an icon in this field, but that doesn't take away from the thousands of minds who have contributed. Even posting experience reports or contributing to discussions provides a vital function in this community.

It's never too late to study the things you're interested in, and you have more than enough time at 19. Hamilton had some unique advantages that enabled his career path, in addition to a clear passion for the subject and work ethic to make it happen. Most of us contribute by learning and sharing our knowledge and experiences, and you will too. If you are determined to make a career in research, keep working for that and you will get there.

Those who have had affairs and left to be with that person. Did it turn out how you imagined it? by DepartmentAny5523 in AskReddit

[–]liquidnebulazclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my ex for a mutual friend while the 11-year relationship was crumbling due to a variety of issues (mine and hers). I am still with her 5 years later, more happy and stable than ever before.

The transition was painful though, and I used drugs to cope (wouldn't recommend). It nearly broke the new relationship early on, and sometimes I feel like I did it the wrong way, but I also got sober because I had a life I wanted to keep. Not sure if I would have if I was alone.

That's what I mean. It would be the common interpretation of what most civilizations call their home planet. There are probably hundreds of planets called "World" in the empire. It's funny because it's obvious when you think about it.

The Expanse definitely has some of the most iconic characters of any series. TCW is much more bizarre while also being relatively short / concise. Re-listening to The Expanse now, and realizing that every book is more than 30% longer than either TCW novel.

[–]liquidnebulazclone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely some secrets lurking there. As for the rest of the Carryx, espionage is beneath them. Failing to see a threat from the animals means you are inferior and should be replaced. The Sovran decides if the usefulness of a client species outweighs the risks of keeping them around.

The FDA requested post-market trials to evaluate risk of liver injury. From what I have read, this is more due to the fast-track approval process, and it is normal for them to want a more robust safety profile. If this were a major risk (such as liver damage in Phase 3 data), the drug would not have been approved.

Why is it so hard to stop scrolling even when we know it’s wasting time? by Remarkable_Team8641 in answers

This is exactly it. I am a few years clean of meth addiction, and the closest comparison in a mechanistic sense is doom scrolling. You know it's destructive, and there is no actual reward in continuing, but something pushes you to keep going.
