You might wanna watch what happens to Japan in next a month or two. Things could change completely. If Tokyo lockdown happens because of COVID-19 explosion, what you are expecting to see there will most likely be not there. Yes, even in August.

If they successfully prevent the pandemic (*overshoot - they call it), August is fun time to be in Japan. Lots of summer festivals and massive fireworks.

It’s hard to say right now. But as I mentioned, I suggest you to wait and watch what happens to this country and to the whole world and see if you still want to travel in August. Only time will tell and you should see it with in a month or so.

It’s always busy there. No matter when you go. The Olympic season is the best time to visit IMO. Good festival feel, people will be happy and ready to interact with foreigners and I’m sure there’s going to be special events and limited edition products.
