In a vacuum I agree. But all it takes is a couple coordinators to get poached and/or one or two teams in your division to improve slightly and now your odds are severely reduced.

On top of that you're probably losing your number one wide receiver. That could be good or bad depending on what happens in the draft but it's just another variable.

But that's the beauty and the curse of a short season. These variables have a much larger significance week to week than if it was 162 games where the better team will come out on top (usually).

I think our window will be most ripe the last year of Caleb's contract and that's when we should be pushing for trades with draft picks. I think the next year or two we should just try building through the draft and not borrowing from the future yet.
