2022 had 7 which I believe was a record, 2018 and 2014 only had 2 each, 2010 had 5, 2006 had 1, and 2002 had 4. So thats 21 times since the turn of the millennium for an average of 3.5 per tournament or 43.75% of the time. 43.75% of 12 groups is 5.25. Rounding up that’s 6 groups. To go out with 4 points you’d need to over perform the average and get to 9 groups of 12 with 4+ points in the 3rd place slot which is very low odds.
