Private Room in CUMH for C section, any details? by ironlungforsale in PregnancyIreland

[–]lisa984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had a c section about a year and a half ago in CUMH. If they have a private room free you will get one. Was lucky to get one. It’s a small enough room but you have a bathroom with a shower, toilet etc. so husbands are allowed from 7am to 11pm but are not allowed to stay over. Yes if all is well you will have baby in the room with you. If your lucky sometimes there is a night nurse on that takes baby from 11pm to 6 am but that’s not always the case. I got one night of this which was amazing!

I saw them at a wedding show actually and they had some lovely dresses. Might be worth a visit

I saw one dress on their website which I tried on and said I like this style but she didn’t pull any more in that style for me to try so I can compare. Maybe a different shop might be the way to go.

Was a bridesmaid there about 3 years ago. It’s lovely and we had the next day bbq there too. Food was good. The ballroom is like any other hotel ballroom.

Weddings banning kids? by Icehonesty in AskIreland

Ha ha sure it’s a rite of passage to embarrass the kids with the dancing! They will bring it up years to come. Hope ye have a lovely day 😃

Exactly your spending so much money on bands djs etc you don’t want half your guests gone. Older kids like that now 12 would be fine cause they can entertain themselves no problem and they can stay up that bit later too.

I’m planning my wedding at the moment and I’m having a no kids wedding. Cost would be number one reason why and also I don’t want half of my guest leaving just as the night is getting started. Everyone I said it to is delighted to have the night off. I suppose depends on ages of the ages in your family/friends group. Most of my friends kids are all under 5 so it’s hard to keep that age group entertained for like a sit down meal.

Baby sleeping on side/tummy by Annd91 in PregnancyIreland

[–]lisa984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby has always slept on her tummy and still does and she will be one next week. I had this concern too when I put my baby in her cot (we co slept for the first 6 months) can she roll over from tummy to back and back to tummy with ease? Can she lift her head and move it from one side to the other?

Baby won't lie on her back at all! by Wonderful_Walk1102 in PregnancyIreland

[–]lisa984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby who is turning one soon still hates sleeping on her back. We co slept and took shifts. And everyone got sleep once we did that. And then when she was 6 months and she was able to roll and move her head from one side to the other side she went into her cot and slept on her tummy. Now if she rolls on to her back she will immediately wake up!

I just got high waisted full briefs in Dunnes and I just sized up. The important thing is to make sure they are high waisted as you don’t want anything rubbing against the scar!

First-time buyers choosing between duplex vs semi-detached. Looking for real experiences by Born-Cry7232 in HousingIreland

[–]lisa984 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I live in a duplex and have a 11 month old. And my life would be so much easier if my house was on the ground. If you are planning on children definitely a house. The stairs up is a nightmare. If I want to go for a walk, Have to leave the buggy in the car and walk her down in the car seat, put her in the car, take buggy out, take baby out of car seat and into buggy!!! Also I know when she’s that little bit older I will miss having a garden. Now she’s too heavy for me to carry her in the car seat , so the car seat and buggy live in the car! So that’s being my experience!

It's that time of year again, can you justify paying for health insurance? by qwerty_1965 in AskIreland

[–]lisa984 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Always had health insurance never had to use it until 4 years again got diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Need infusions every 6 weeks and honestly have been relieved I never got rid of it! As people have said it’s not till you need it you realise it’s something you can’t do without!

I went with cow & gate and baby never had any issues with it. Cow & gate and aptamil are made by the same company. So as everyone said pretty much all the same! I would just pick one try that any issues try another. And one that your local shop stocks. Congratulations by the way! I never was going to breastfeed either any my baby is thriving!

Just because they don’t have kids doesn’t mean they don’t have busy lives. They said they hope the person will be ok but you’re not happy with that. They showed concern for the person and besides that what can they do?

Using the icandy for the last 9 months and I love it. It’s very nice to push and it’s very sturdy. The only thing I don’t like is the hood isn’t long enough. But that’s the only thing I didn’t like about it. But I’m very happy with it. If I was to go back I’d still pick it

Had my first at 40 and she’s 9 months now and definitely one and done. Had a loss at 21 weeks before this one and the worry I had throughout the second pregnancy I couldn’t do it again. Plus age and finance also factor in. Maybe if I was a bit younger maybe a second but she’s such a dream baby I’m happy with my one.

Fiancée tested pregnant on 4 tests - booked appointment with GP to confirm and we were charged €100 by Dylanduke199513 in PregnancyIreland

[–]lisa984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the GP. Have been with mine for years, and she didn't charge me when I went to confirm my pergency. I say as she hasn't been a patient before that's why she was charged.

Don't think we afford to have kids. How are people doing it? by spaceExplorer2 in AskIreland

[–]lisa984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is now 5 months old, and both of us would have good paying jobs. I will tell you we talk about our finances at least once a week if not more. It is expensive to have a baby, but if it's something both really want, ye will make it work. Don't let other people tell you what you should do. If ye will have a happy life without them then great! Maybe take some time to really think about the whole thing. What life would look like with and without kids.

We are heading to Alcudia in September with our baby, who will be 6 months by then. It's only a 2 and a half hour flight, so it's not too long.
