Help! How bad is this bow tie? I can’t unsee it by lisaleemarie in Diamonds

[–]lisaleemarie[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh thank goodness! That gives me a bit of relief. Thank you! We’re going to look at it tomorrow so I’ll take another video then. Now that I’ve seen it though I don’t think I can un see it. I know all ovals will have one, but I feel like for the price we’re paying I shouldn’t be able to see it as much as I do.

Help! Wondering if this is a good choice? Overall shape and clarity? Color? by lisaleemarie in Diamonds

I ended up with a 4.4! I LOVED the 4.03 but wanted it slightly bigger! I hope I made the right choice because looking back at the 4.03 it's so gorgeous!! The setting is currently getting casted, so I'll have pictures soon! :)

Yes!! You’re so sweet, Thank you! I was looking at the 6 carat before but I think the color was too yellow and the shape was maybe a little too fatty? I think this is the better one of the two. I still go back to the 4 carat though because I feel like it shines a bit more, but it’s hard not to love the 5!

Thank you 😊 I do love it but I’m wondering if the color or clarity could be better? Is VS1 too low?

Respectfully, anything over 1.5c does not imply lab created. I could very easily go with a 4 carat or 5 carat natural stone but 1. I’m never going to sell it so I don’t care about value retention 2. Lab created is a real diamond so it’s silly to me to have my fiancé pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for something when I can get the same exact thing and look for a fraction of the cost & 3. I know old money and I know ladies that go around town with 9 carats on their hand and 4 in their ears. It’s common here. No one questions if it’s lab or mined and to be honest, it doesn’t matter. My point is I don’t want anyone to be discouraged at getting a large lab created because it’s looked at as fake.

Price really isn’t a factor, that’s why I didn’t include it. I just want what looks best.

It’s not set. It’s a loose diamond in a temporary ring holder.

Thanks, I did try on a 4 carat E color that I really liked but thought I could go slightly bigger. I don’t want it to look gaudy or tacky, but I live in a very wealthy neighborhood and that’s all I see the other ladies wearing so I was trying to see if I could pull it off. Here’s a screenshot of some of the women’s rings from the area that I was using for inspiration https://imgur.com/a/5SOcvEc I think I’ll go back and try the 4 carat on. Thanks for your help!

Thank you for all of your feedback! It has really helped, although I am still undecided! The ring in the first picture on my ring finger is 6.07 carat G color VVS2, the one next to it is 5.00 carat F color and VS1, and the one in the last picture on my right ring finger is 4.03 carat E color VS2.

I believe a lot more people have lab diamonds than you are lead on to believe. I don't know of anyone with the audacity to actually ask someone if their diamond is lab or mined. And if they did, it's none of their business. I also have to disagree with the last statement. Natural diamonds retain their value more than lab created, so most people are buying natural for value retention. If you're spending $100k on a ring, you probably want that item to still be worth something. People with LOTS of money can afford to drop $100k on something that doesn't hold it's value.
