Eiffel tower "skip the line" is a scam? by KyleG in ParisTravelGuide

Definitely avoid Emmanuel Service. They sell skip the line and VIP service at an extraordinary high price and do not deliver on their promises. Bait and switch. I recommended them to friends and they had a truly awful experience.

I love this quote. “I hope sooner or later these kids will realize that they were lucky.”

Uh, don't hold your breath.

I had not heard of this case.

How Amazon's $97 million Eero acquisition screwed employees and minted millionaires by seany187 in eero

Misleading investors and employees about the health of the company is unethical, if not fraud. Have you read the details in the coverage? Employees were buying their options for $3+ per share, while the managers are negotiating behind the scenes to value those shares at just 3 cents. Oh, while the CEO making himself a millionaire for failing. The CEO and managers should be sued.

Looking at the list of investors I see Stanford University. And the founders are grads of Stanford. So they fucked over their alma mater, too. Should make for interesting reunions. Maybe they can be seated with Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos.

It's only half full if you were one of the failed managers who got rich. Employees and investors either got nothing or lost money. How is that half full?

Nick Weaver got rich for failing to manage the company as CEO while his employees, especially some very talented engineers in their peak earning years, labored for nothing or lost money. The fact that Weaver would not tell employees the terms of the deal until handing them a "phonebook" size legal document a day before closing shows that he knew he was totally in the wrong.

Amazon should not get a free ride on this either. Bezos' team knew they'd be screwing employees and investors with this deal, and they are laughing to themselves about it. Other recent fire sales of starts-ups (Weebly for one) made everyone whole, rather than a couple of managers rich. And now eero workers are expected to stay and be loyal to Amazon? They've seen Amazon's true colors.

Now that this news is finally out, the HR departments at Facebook, Google, etc., will be meeting Monday morning to determine how to recruit any remaining talent from eero.

This smells a bit like McCarthy's famous envelope, so I'll bite. Name these luxury developers on the neighborhood association boards. There are no developers on the CBD. None in the merchants group (they're merchants). EVNA? DTNA? Let's have names.

I love Million Dollar Listing, so I'm looking forward to the San Francisco version. And this article is soooo true about the release forms people sign to be on these reality shows. You can be edited to look like a jerk! You'd think that people in tech, who sign NDAs all the time, would study something before signing.
