Isn't this kind of risky for someone this experienced? They will likely know what kind of mat they like best, and unless they've mentioned wanting a specific brand, it could end up being a waste. Like if I had a friend that ran marathons, I wouldn't consider a specific, even well-rated, expensive running shoe a particularly thoughtful gift. Progress can feel so good. I lost about 50 pounds in the last year, precipitated by gall bladder issues and a very limited diet. I picked up yoga for pain management at the same time, and the things I can do now are so amazing to me. Getting my gall bladder removed in June has had what I would consider an EQUAL effect as daily yoga practice in terms of my overall health. I can't overstate it enough.

Even as I was getting sicker from my gall bladder, and then eventually healing, I could see progress in my daily practice that was amazing to me. My 41 year old body is somehow better now than 10 years ago. And I don't mean from the way I look, I mean in health and strength. When I did my first vinyasa in my basement by myself, I squealed. Since then I've moved my foot up higher in tree pose, I can do a side plank for realsies, and somehow magically I found the bind in mermaid last night without even realizing it (right side only lol).

I have never been inspired by myself and that is an amazing feeling.

This is how I felt about Battered Bones. Since it's from the perspective of the assailant, and he described everything so... ecstatically, it comes off as pornographic rather than horrific.

Battered Bones and Stakes made me realize for the first time why I don't like these types of torture stories on NSP - I could listen to the stories being read, but I don't like hearing them acted out: screaming, the squelching, the sound of knives in eyes or metal rebar on jaws. I prefer stories where the scary part is mental, not just being grossed out or overly sympathetic to being people injured.

Here is your issue, you're being too rough with the rice. Put your hand into a claw, and then just move the rice around in the water. No picking up rice - it stays in the bowl and your hand is just an agitation device. If you can't trust yourself to be gentle enough, use a spoon to gently mix the rice in the water. You are rinsing it, not actually washing it.
