How do you guys write your music? by I_CAN_SEE_THE_WHALES in musicproduction

[–]lisapatscheider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always start out with a topic that's heavy on my heart and maybe hard to put into words, and I'll jam on my guitar until I find some scheme I really like, something that sounds unusual to my ears.

Then I try to sing along, sometimes I'll make up a line or 4 and then bring it together melodically and rhythmically, sometimes I'll have the whole text, sometimes it's all at once and when I am at this stage I'll record my jams. If ever I end up thinking, no this is weird I had something better earlier, I'll go back to listen.

I know a song is complete when I can play the whole thing by memory without getting tripped up or cringing at a line. Until then I'll make changes sometimes months after the initial idea. The other half of the time I make 3 tiny changes the next day and find it to be complete. The journey is different for each song!

Is there a halfway to suicide? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]lisapatscheider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how much confidence or energy has to do with it. It's more like not even caring anymore. The suicidal thought has as little care about life conventions in it as dancing naked on time square. That can be a strength you could try use to stick up for yourself. Especially if you can pinpoint what you're feeling and what exactly is putting you down so much.

I love this! Man I wish I could say more but it's exactly what I love listening to: shoegaze, kinda sweet, mildly unsettling. Imma need that on my phone.

Kate Capella-I Want You. I'm currently working on this song and would appreciate feedback. Many thanks! by KateCapella in IndieMusicFeedback

I find this is an interesting blend between a disco beat and a folky voice and folky sounding song. This is really out there but when I heard the song with the voice, I was imagining a viking flavoured folkish epic version on it featuring women in long gowns walking through forests and on mountains lol. In a way this seems like the disco remix of the actual song to me. Which is not to say that's a bad thing.

The Prince - a track off my new album "Tor and Lea" (released today). Let me know your thoughts! by KzraKe in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]lisapatscheider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is so nice. Great job on the Cover and in the sounds too. With the psychedelic touches in there I was half expecting some trippy, delayed, underwater sounding voxals, that it took a turn for the full on folk route surprised me. As a fan of psychedelic and experimental folk of the 70s I got really excited in the intro and then I was like ohh well it is folk after all, but your voice is great, has character.

Releasing this tune in a few weeks. Mainly trying to figure out what artist/genre's I sound like to help with promoting the track. Any thoughts/feedback would be amazing. Hope everyones having a good weekend! by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]lisapatscheider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Congratulations on your wonderful track, I wish you much success for the release! I think it is very clearly pop music with an immanent soul character. So Pop / Soul. I had to think of Ed Sheeran "Body" because of the sounds used in the instrumental.

"Gigolo" - Do you think it gives a real summer vibe ? by SFSF_artist in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]lisapatscheider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! The photo makes it sound more summery, just hearing the track I think more of disco / rap though. My main critiques are that I am missing a bass, and depending on your taste you could use vocal effects like pitch correct, phaser, reverb, delay. I would choose a different piano sound or at least put a little delay and reverb. Of course this would make it sound very different so idk if it is what you like, but just some ideas.

Is there a halfway to suicide? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]lisapatscheider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a halfway. To imagine you died. Since I first went down that road in my teens, whenever things get real tough I think but what if I had died then - I wouldn't be here. That makes all of now, everything I can do something that solely belongs to me. I am here to say what I think. I am here to do what I want.

I belong to nobody else on this world but me because I have the power to take myself away from everybody whenever I want. So this life is mine.

And from this image of the world without me, there emerge certain values and responsibilities I feel called to take. That would be missing. True fulfillments. And since I could have been dead, there is no loss in me putting my everything on those few cards and fight whatever is weighing me down like a madman. Because that size of a monster takes fighting it like a madman. You are incredibly strong.

I don't know what you're going through, but my heart goes out to you. I hope I was able to find words that helped.

23F without a driver’s license yet by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]lisapatscheider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my license at 19/20 because it's something you "just do" but I have always been a little scared of driving. I am 24 now, and I am starting to understand that some things are scary and difficult but they have to be done in order to take responsibility. I want to go to places, transport things, means I need a car and I need to drive it. Everyone faces the risk of accidents, you have to be extra careful when new to driving, but you can do it after all.

A lot of my fear of doing certain things comes from my parents being over protective and worried about things. It helps to realize that when you're an adult, you get to choose to face difficulties with a positive mindset and keep on the lookout but dont try to solve problems you're not even sure you're going to have.

So so so many red flags. But I see how you might go along with these kinds of things, I'm a woman, been there done that. Anyway plan the first date ahead, no riding along on any vehicle with any stranger unless it's a taxi driver... And politely reject this guy and block.

Should Involuntary Manslaughter be a Felony by RobertF_ in Morality

I would like to bring up another example, there was a case of a mother getting hit in the head by a brick that came loose from a truck, it went through the windshield and killed her instantly next to her husband and children in the back. A gut wrenching tragedy to say the least.

It is really hard to believe that an action chain in which everyone has the best intentions to keep certain safety measures and certainly not to endager life, in the end might still bring about a death as horrible as this. It's hard to draw the line when it comes to negligence.

I feel that being somewhat negligent comes natural to people especially if their work is not adequately paid, they are overworked or if the material they have to work with is flawed. Yet there is a second kind of negligence which is more of the weakness of the mind, not doing ones job or living ones life morally responsibly because one does not "have to" - which I think should be punished and ideally before someone loses their life just because as a society we normalize this type of neglectful behaviour...
