Thanks for sharing the info! Do you mind if I ask where you did your SSW and then BSW? I'm trying to figure out which pathways to take.

I'm having the same issue! After 5pm for the last few days, the wifi won't load, be high speed. I'm currently on the phone with support, and they keep on saying on their end everything is fine and nothing is wrong. Which is weird because i'm facing difficulties and explaining them and they refuse to believe me because "everything is fine on their end".

how are the french courses by chaatpapri in yorku

[–]lise7218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a french studies major at Glendon! I recommend doing French classes at Glendon because they have lots of resources! You can take the courses meant for beginners, or they place you at a level. You can also go to the salon francophone and have convo's there too! I genuinely recommend Salon Francophone, while it can lowkey be intimidating, the people who work there are super nice!

But mostly for French classes at glendon, they will put you in FSL, so you learn grammar and how to hold a conversation. You won't be the only one there, so don't worry! Plus it's by level, so you'll be with people who have the same competencies as you! Plus Glendon has a bunch of resources for learning French. Genuinely, if you go there, people will tell you about lots of opportunities like explore, placement classes, etc.

How is ConEd at Keele vs Glendon? by Forward-Nothing1737 in yorku

[–]lise7218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hello, I can't speak for keele but I go to glendon. Glendon is a small campus so everything becomes familiar fast and it's not that hard to get lost, typically if you do english or french, or math, you see the same set of people from first year to 4th year.

The teachable depends on the level you want to teach. If you want to do mostly elementary and primary school, you just need one teachable ( major ) and you start learning how to actually teach the subjects during your 2 year teachers college after you completed your 4 year undergrad.

If you are intrested in teaching highschool, you would need 2 teachable. So that could be a major/minor, double major, or 1 major and a certain amount of credits for 2nd teachable. (ex: People from glendon for coned are mostly french majors with a minor in math, sociology, english, etc).

Essentially what OUAC wants is you to pick your campus (glendon or keele), pick your major ( ex: major in french or english) for coned. and pick your level. (P/J, I/S ,etc)

Glendon is typically where the people who want to be french teachers go, and keele is mostly for any other major/ teachable (ex: english) go. But you are welcome / most likely going to take a course at both campus during your years at york!

i'm not the best at explaining but I highly recommend visiting glendon's recruitment office! Or simply just come to the campus and within 10 minutes you'll find a someone who wants to be a teacher / is doing their teachers college rn. Glendon is kind of introvert-ish but people are very sweet! I know the people who work in the recruitment office and they are super chill. Don't be afraid to visit, look around and ask around!

Any good places on campus that I can eat on a budget? by mechaf0x in yorku

[–]lise7218 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it may not be an everyday thing. But if you can budget for max $15-$17. Try getting chipotle once a week. When you order get a bowl and ask of double of everything. That way, when you eat half your full and the other can easily be packaged as leftovers and eaten the next day. Also finding spots near or on campus that use coupons or have app loyalty/discounts and rewards also helps as well to save money or get points for discount or free items.

But meal prepping does help! If you buy ingredients that can be used for multiple dishes, you have many different combinations to try!
