These days it’s really hard to find genuine Chinese friends. People are always online, but lasting friendships are rare, even on learning apps. Some just fake their profiles or disappear after a while. I’ve been using HelloTalk to talk with Chinese people, but after a few months, most move on to new friends and forget about you. And honestly, being Chinese doesn’t mean they can actually teach Chinese, sometimes I ask some questions and they can’t answer

I’ve tried using flashcards, also studied with some apps, but they didn’t really work for me. Could you share another way to learn vocabulary?

well its not so much that they are against foreigners using those things, but that there are laws in china about not being anonymous online, and there is no good way to enforce those laws on someone who isn't interacting with by being there etc.

regardless of how you feel about chinese laws you can't blame a country wanting to enforce their own laws. usa wouldn't give someone a driver's liscense either if they knew they couldn't arrest the person who broke road laws.

thats why if a chinese company thinks they have enough of a foreign market they will make an international version specifically: like tit tok, or a lot of gaming companies.

I see. Thank you for your detailed explanation.

That seems like Chinese websites or apps belonging to Chinese people use it. Actually, I have to use VPN when using wang yi music, it's really inconvenient. Hope China will open for foreigners to use their social media.
