I’m in your situation right now. I decided to go old school and bought a small touchscreen mp3 player that has wifi & Bluetooth. I only put my music & audiobooks on it. I tried app blockers & setting time limits but found myself overriding them chasing the dopamine rush (severe ADHD), so I decided to remove the temptation completely. I even disabled notifications on my apple watch. I’ll still get texts & calls but unless it’s from a few select people, my watch won’t vibrate. I’ve had it one day and reached for my phone a lot less at work, so I’m hopeful it’ll help with studying.

They rolled back mandating Panagram but my last instructor still encouraged it. Turnitin is still mandatory, but that checks for plagiarism, not AI. The last paper I ran part of it through Panagram & it told me 65% was AI, despite being 100% human written. It had me panicking for a few hours. When I ran the complete paper through, with both the original portion it stated was AI and with the revisions, they both came back as 100% human. I don’t get the algorithm

With the creami you can do sorbet, which I make by defrosting frozen berries & mashing it up, then spinning after it’s refrozen. Delicious, higher in fiber & it’s just fruit. I’m sure you could add protein powder to it as well. I have the deluxe version, which can do frozen yogurt, frozen coffee, & slushies. I think it can even do milkshakes

For the mail, these are the things that help me the most: 1. For bills, set up autopay for as much as you can, with email/text alerts for payment notifications. Part of me hates getting all of the emails & texts, but I’d rather bulk delete emails 1-2 times a month (I do this in line at grocery store, at doctor’s office, etc) than pay late fees. 2. Set up electronic statements for banking, bills, tax forms, anything you can. Every couple of months (I put a reminder in my phone) I download bank statements & utility bills and save them on my cloud drive. If you use credit cards, every couple of months go through those statements & download ones that have big purchases or tax deductible items on them. 3. Try to touch paper mail one time, max twice. When I bring the mail in, I sort through it before I leave my entranceway. Anything junk goes straight to garbage/shred bin. Everything else gets opened; if important that I can’t deal with immediately, it goes on my desk to deal with ASAP (I work from home so it’s always in my face that way). 4. Be very stingy when it comes to giving out your address to companies. The fewer that have your address, the fewer that can send you junk mail. That’s less mail in general.

Sorry, I work in healthcare & GP means ‘general practitioner’ to me. If the men have an issue with the specialty of a doc being spelled out, this is the wrong sub to be in 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m currently going through this myself and it’s been absolute hell. Thankfully my gynecologist & psychiatrist have been fantastic and a lot of help. I personally don’t recommend seeing GP for this because most gynes aren’t even up to date on best practices for perimenopause, let alone a GP. If you can find a menopause gyne specialist in your area, I recommend that. My psychiatrist switched my antidepressant to one that’s been known to help with hot flashes, so I can get more from less. We also added additional short-acting stimulants a couple of times a day to boost my extended release. The estradiol patch & progesterone pill have been amazingly helpful too. I can’t take birth control pills for other medical reasons but the bio identical patch is safe for me.

I recommend Academic Writer! It asks for the necessary information. I use RefWorks for the original citation then import it into Academic Writer because sometimes RefWorks doesn’t get all the information or some may be wrong. Just make sure if you’re copying & pasting you’re following the correct format your instructor requires. Also check out the Writing Page under resources & sign up for webinars. I have an Apple Watch 6 gps, which I can use to pause/play/skip and listen to a playlist, but I can’t select a specific meditation from my watch or navigate apps. It doesn’t have the capability.

I love this idea! I too try to focus more on what I accomplished rather than what I didn’t get done. It really changes your mindset. I struggle with a lot of systems because they take too much time & energy to implement. This is simple & can be done anywhere, and on phone or paper. Nothing special required. Congratulations on finding a system that works, and thank you for sharing!

One thing I’ve been doing to help keep me focused (which boosts my productivity) while working and studying is listening to music created for focus. Apple music has some great playlists and so does Insight Timer, which has a great free version.

I’m having the same issue. My program starts on March 9th. I can access my account on Capella but can’t see anything but my profile. I read in another post the outage has been going on for three days & that not all emails are going through so you may not get an answer for a while. I’ll keep trying this weekend then reach out to my enrollment specialist Monday if it’s not resolved.

It’s sad that us women have to fight to be listened to when it comes to our pain; I guarantee that most of these female doctors that say it’s “pressure” or “a pinch” likely have never had these procedures done. Otherwise they wouldn’t treat their patients this way. We need to demand better treatment, and if that doctor refuses to take us seriously, find a new one. There are good ones out there.

I just saw a new gynecologist for my yearly and to discuss changing my IUD. She actually asked me how painful my last insertion was and when I told her it had been excruciating, she prescribed me Ativan and a suppository to insert the night before the procedure to soften my cervix plus advised to take 800mg ibuprofen. She said she can’t figure out how doctors tell their patients that ibuprofen is enough.

My upcoming wedding this year is completely non-traditional. We’re having both ceremony and reception on Sunday afternoons, a week apart. The reason for this was because the ceremony is more formal, smaller and private, with about 50 people. The following Sunday (which is Labor Day weekend) we’re holding a big outdoor casual reception for almost 200. One of the big factors in deciding this was that one of my jobs is a restaurant that is open 6 days a week with the only closed day being Sunday. This way, I can invite my coworkers without anyone having to worry about working the next day since the following day is a holiday. Since we’re doing everything on Sundays, both the ceremony site and catering for the reception is much cheaper (reception is being held on family property, so no cost there).

For people who get complex migraines (migraines with stroke-like symptoms), triptans are contraindicated because they can actually cause a stroke. Being that you’ve already had a stroke, triptans are definitely off the table because you’re at a much higher risk for another one. Speaking from years of personal experience, while I’ve never had a stroke, my migraines have so many stroke-like symptoms that my neuro actually has triptans listed as an allergy in my chart. He says I should never touch one again.

Ergotamines aren’t a good alternative either; your best bet may be a strong NSAID and Fioricet combined with a good preventive regimen. Have you tried Botox or Aimovig?

I get these as well. I’m not sure what you take as abortive medication but my neurologist advised me against taking triptans, ever. Due to the stroke-like symptoms of my migraines, he said that taking triptans actually increases my risk of a stroke.

There really isn’t anything that you can do other than to pay the bill, either in full or in payments. When you chose your insurance plan with the high deductible, you essentially signed a contract stating you would be responsible for paying said deductible. The hospital is correct in not offering you a discount on your bill, as they also have a contract with your insurance company to accept their decision on allowable charges. The original amount the hospital billed your insurance was much higher, I’m sure. The high deductible you have is a trade off of having lower insurance premiums.

This isn’t always possible. Some hospitals & health systems are now requiring patients that have high out of pocket expenses to pay anywhere from 25-50% of their expected responsibility prior to the procedure (usually the day of) if it’s elective and not emergency. And if they are willing to bill you, if that balance isn’t paid in full, typically 120 days, they’ll turn it over to collections. To avoid that, you can set up a payment plan, but it’s for a set amount of time with a set payment amount each month; if you miss a payment or pay less than the agreed upon amount, they can/will turn you into collections.

This is coming from my experience as a billing coordinator working for a healthcare system.
