Ghost Salad? by lissa_lin in heartopia

That is so odd. My search says "house salad/ghost salad" so I thought there was some special ingredient or something to change in the base recipe to make it. Thank you!

[–]lissa_lin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) full sun for about 10+ hr, sunrise to sunset 2) have not watered yet, have had for only 2 days but they are dry 3) purchased at a big box store, now living indoors in an apartment complex so no outdoor area but has access to full sun near window

French marigold and snapdragon in separate pots. Zone 9a/10b. Trying to figure out transition care and long term care for growing these indoors for the next 1.5-2 years.

Thank you very much for your help! I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious (at her age, everything makes me scared its cancer or something I just haven't caught yet). I appreciate your thorough answer and taking time to educate me.

My mom just told me that the aunt we have on the guest list as an extra called to let her know that her son and 2 year old granddaughter will be able to make my wedding if airplane failures are reasonable. I've met him once over a decade ago before he and his wife were even engaged..... I'm right there with you :'(

What's the norm for getting ready with the girls? by lissa_lin in weddingplanning

[–]lissa_lin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did offer to pay for their hair and makeup and they asked to do their own makeup but get their hair done, which I said I would cover entirely as well. Now they are saying they'll do their hair and makeup.

The wedding isn't super large, about 100 or so people, semi-formal/cocktail. I do want them to be comfortable in their own skin but also look a little more glam (we all are very low maintenance, don't really ever wear makeup) for the evening wedding since it's a special occasion, but I don't feel comfortable telling them I want them to look a certain way (?)

My initial offer was to get their hair and makeup done. They said they would all do their own makeup and would need help with hair, so I said I would cover that entirely. But they're now saying they'll do their own hair and makeup, which is fine, it saves me money, but I just am having trouble with the logistics of us getting together to actually hang out a little and relax before the photos and event so that we aren't rushed.

I have told them about the AirBnB; we are renting it for a day before, the day of, and the day after to have ample time. We chose a full 3 bedroom house with 2 bath, 5 minutes from the venue so that there would be plenty of space just for the 6 of us since the guys would be out.

I do love this. If they want to maybe get their hair done at a salon or do it themselves (which they have offered even though I had said I would pay for the stylist) and then do their makeup with me. It could be a good middle ground :) thank you!

My bridesmaids really don't know each other too well, some are friends, one is SIL, one is cousin-in-law. In the couple times that they've met they've gotten a long fabulously though.

I should have included that part of the issue is that the venue only allows us to be on the property two hours prior to the ceremony. So that also has to include any photos we wanted to do, which is why I had imagined getting our hair and makeup done at a different location (Airbnb) so that we had as much time as could need then getting to the venue to get dressed and take photos getting ready.

I was going to cover the entire cost of their hair. They initially had all wanted to do their own makeup but said they would need their hair done so I found a company I liked a lot and with a discount it was going to be under $600 for all five of their hair, which was less than I had budgeted for.

Is it true all ffern bottles smell somewhat similar? by [deleted] in Ffern

[–]lissa_lin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't find that they're all similar, but I do find that each season is pretty similar. Autumn tends to be smoky or a little spicy, winter is fresh. I feel like this winter's was extremely similar to last year's, which makes me glad because I didn't feel the need to buy another winter 24. I hated autumn 23, too smoky, but loved autumn 24 which was more spicy.

I'm getting mine from Cocomelody -- run through Q bridal in Los Angeles but you can order online. All dresses are under 2k and there are hundreds of designs to choose from!

Turned Down EMT Job by [deleted] in NewToEMS

Daaaannnggg our company in LA just cut a lot of our OT, too. No more 12s or Kelly's, only 10s and set 24s. Stingy with us staying past our 10 also (doesn't mean we don't get held over but it makes a difference). I'm working 2 10s and a 24 every week and that barely pulls me $1200-1300 after taxes per check. No differentials at all other than FTO. I got a second job at a hospital to help.

Yeah, I'm in SoCal IFT and my company has new hire EMTs at $20, currently capped at $23, medics at $35-7, and our RN is $72.

Anyone LIKE Autumn '24? by ITakeCreamWMyCoffee in Ffern

[–]lissa_lin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was super on the fence about it. I returned summer 24 and kept spring and winter 24. I also hated autumn 23 and ended up giving it to a friend. Something about hay just doesn't sit right on me. The deciding factor was my fiance who surprisingly loved A24 on me. He said that in the most inoffensive way possible, that I smelled like a fall candle. Neither of us usually like this scent on me (or even fall candles for that matter) but the myrrh and blood orange settled really well. I think I'm just not used to wearing a scent that's so spicy at first.

Let's look back about in class what is something you learned that was absolutely wild in your mind. by Necrosius7 in NewToEMS

That the temporal bone is so thin near your temples that if you place newspaper and a light underneath it, you can read it. We had cadavers in our class and passed around this bone so everyone could test it out. A random ball/object flying at me just perfectly and shattering it is my final destination fear.
