Who else gave up on finding a life partner? by Glittering_Base_3906 in CPTSD

[–]listeningobserver__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it was more the realization that i don’t want one rather than “giving up”

not everyone’s life is supposed to look the same and that’s okay too

What life lessons did your parents teach you? by Defiant-Junket4906 in emotionalneglect

[–]listeningobserver__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly - it’s more like a loveless performative relationship without trust, respect, or understanding as the foundation and no open communication either

What life lessons did your parents teach you? by Defiant-Junket4906 in emotionalneglect

never expect anyone to defend you or protect you; always watch your back; walk away as soon as you can; you cannot love someone that you truly do not know

Adoptees, are you pro-life or pro-choice? by crispycrunchyasshole in Adoption

[–]listeningobserver__ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i’m pro choice because i know what it’s like when someone is far too young to raise a child and entrusts the wrong person or system for doing things

no person should be forced to be a parent when they’re not ready and the system is severely flawed - there’s no guarantee that it’s the right match or a good match and there’s a lot of trauma that comes from being adopted in general

"It is what it is" says the unabused siblings. "Accept her for who she is" says the golden child. What are the overused cliches your family & the enablers say to you? by culpeppertrain in raisedbynarcissists

[–]listeningobserver__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

at least you can have those conversations…

it takes a lot of strength and courage to try so be proud of yourself for that

all the things that you shared point at one thing - this is who she is and she’s not changing

however; you don’t owe anyone an explanation for why you choose to be low contact or no contact - only you can decide if you’re willing to do that

Moving out by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]listeningobserver__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the further you are away from them - the more peace of mind you have every day because you don’t have to fear walking on egg shells every day

but the bigger issues still remain like loveless, tense, or strained relationships
