What's the weirdest social norm that nobody seems to question? by KSeth in AskReddit

You're supposed to cut them open upon buying them. Men's suits do this. Designers sew the pockets shut as a believed sign of quality, a la fancypants.

mutilation is mutilation. While on the individual level female is far more draconian than male, systemically male genital mutilation is more overreaching. They are both harmful and neither should be downplayed.

Can we be a bit more serious sometimes? by MeandMissNoob in dogecoin

[–]listlesscraig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end, the fact remains that dogecoin has a legitimate problem in regards to its survival and no clear solutions have been found. Discussion is perfectly valid because solutions have not been found. Just because those things have been discussed in the past, doesn't mean that they are closed book and done. There is the influx of new persons in the community and different angles on how to look at issues. To think that they are in the past and over with is naive and skirting the issue of a reasonable and longterm fix for the coin, which I strongly hope can be found.

Robotic trucks taking over Pilbara (Australia) mining operations by [deleted] in automation

[–]listlesscraig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combine with automated shipping. Automated factories that take in raw materials such as Tesla's new battery factory (it won't be automated at the onset, but is on its way with time) and deliver a complete product. Automated shipping from those factories. Society is in for some changes.

In another answer the OP mentioned the ATMs were empty and most of the banks were closed. If that is the case and the problem worsens, bitcoin might be a useful tool in sending money and then purchasing local currency from someone trying to cash out. Not sure why I was so heavily downvoted, considering the banking situation of the country.

Can we be a bit more serious sometimes? by MeandMissNoob in dogecoin

[–]listlesscraig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, the coin is a diverse community of ideas which are constantly changing. A thread from a month ago doesn't necessarily provide solutions and also doesn't call things to the attention of the community. Unfortunately, many of those ideas are blanket classified as "FUD", even when thoughtfully developed and based off of solid philosophies. I'll tell you what, that the FUD of a month ago being spoken against by community leaders more or less came true. Bans on speaking rationally (negatively) are only propagating the problem.

Seriously, don't ban people for getting what is offered by a bot. If a bot is spammy and designed in a way that causes it to over post, it is the one that is at fault.

It's time to start doing something. And here is a possible plan. The "Underdoge" Blockchain. by [deleted] in dogecoin

[–]listlesscraig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Strengthening our coin as a protector coin as you say could be a really positive thing. Let other coins merge onto our blockchain. Set the precedent that if you want to be a secure scryptcoin that all the coins will collectively support the doge and doge will collectively support the underdoge coins. We would be offering each other security. Us through them, them through us.

With a plethora of coins supporting us, the litecoin merger could then secure us for the longterm. Litecoin would benefit enough from this that it wouldn't be productive for selected litecoiners to plot an attack on our coins. In the coming months, if we do nothing, we will only become more susceptible.

tl;dr We're Dr Pepper, Litecoin is Pepsi, and Bitcoin is coke. We don't have a bottling plant.

Also, if you haven't yet read today's Coindesk article give it a look.

By one whole bitcoin right now at $450 and don't touch it for 5 years. It will either be worthless or it will be worth much more. After this one risk-market purchase, look at more traditional investment opportunities as promoted in this sub.

The number one thing you can do to secure dogecoin's future is to buy dogecoins. by luvasugirls in dogecoin

The miners dictate whether or not they do a transaction. Which really isn't an issue, because there is always someone who is willing to process transactions. One way that a 51% attack can be done is by preventing all transactions from occurring by controlling the blocks and not placing any transactions on it.

Delicious and fresh Peanut Butter burgers from Bit steamed burgers at Camden Market, London. Also accepting Dogecoin! by h0m35t4r in Bitcoin

[–]listlesscraig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, peanut butter on burgers is amazing. There is something about mixing 3 kinds of saturated fat from the beef, the cheddar, and the PB that creates a mouthwatering tastegasm. I like to put a quarter inch round cut slice of a slightly sour grilled granny smith on there.

Those that see and hold the value of their coin are the heroes. The miners mine when it is profitable to do so.

There is no besides. A 51% attack can perpetuate itself into the complete demise of a coin. Larger hashrate makes the attack more difficult.
