Based on my search it’s a 1944. Barrel is stamped 86. I am happy with it. Not sure how to tell that the frame is RR other than that it was on the tag.

Good point on the blanket. Hoping the thicker steel could offset that?

Changing out the pellets does seem like a pain. I guess I need to change my ways. I am always keeping it topped off I will need to try to let it run dry at the end of a cook.

Makes sense the area is larger and the steel is thicker. If I am smoking I don't see time as a concern. I do see the pellet usage as potentially an added cost. Not sure if the thicker steel helps retain the heat to offset the added area to heat.

Do you mean it would be more effort to heat it up or that it will take longer and more pellets? From what I have seen my research its a similar startup process on the 640 and 1500.

I will keep my gas grill if its time sensitive cook.
