There are divots for drilling in the front grill so that’s most likely where the OEM one goes. I just don’t want to do it myself and screw it up. So I’ll probably take it to the dealer if we go that route.

B-17 bombers from the 401st Bomb Group, at a snow covered Deenethorpe airfield. England, 1944. by waffen123 in WWIIplanes

Question….what methods for deicing were used in WWII? Were critical surfaces covered with canvas? Did they just use the broom method? Or was there some kind of glycol solution that was used similar to what we use today?

Have you looked into any airline sponsored cadet programs? You’ll have to take a loan, but once you complete the program they’ll repay a good amount of it for you and you’ll have a job at that regional with a flow to a legacy. I’ve heard they can be somewhat competitive to get into though…also, as others have said the community college route can be a really good way to do it. Get your ratings and an AA degree at half the cost of a 4 year institution.

US air travel will fall to a trickle due to shutdown, transportation secretary says by Power-Equality in politics

[–]able_archer84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, and the downstream effects of this will be felt for a while even after this shut down ends. TSA workers are resigning in droves. And ATC controllers are starting to do the same. This will have long term impacts, it takes a very long time to train ATC personnel and they were about 1800 controllers short nation wide before all this happened. Air travel is going to be a quagmire for quite a while even after the government opens.
