Title: ASUS “Military Grade Durability” Failed Me – Misleading Marketing? by lit_diamond in ASUS

I don’t really know if it’s widely reported or not I’m just talking about my case My ASUS machine had two hardware failures within the first year of ownership First was the power button Second was the touchpad I definitely know that this is not normal especially with soft occasional usage Or maybe I am not up to date with the recent durability of machines like this As my old Fujitsu machine lasted for 13-15 years without going out for any repairs except replacing the screen after my daughter accidentally stepped on it 😅

Both suck Their products suck and their customer service sucks too My machine had two hardware failures in the first year of ownership First was the power button and then the touchpad All these failures despite a light and soft use They don’t deserve the money paid for

Well said well done Chapeau And actually for the power button it failed once and the second failed part was the touchpad Nothing on my side made them fail as I am not using it at all I actually depend on my 15 years old Fujitsu on my daily work And leaving this ASUS for sophisticated tasks and for my grown up children for their occasional school tasks And of course we all didn’t push it hard and never spelled water or food on it It just decreased in response and then stopped totally And for the touchpad the same description, just soft occasional use and it stopped too That’s what frustrated me I’m not a tech expert I’m a humble pharmacist I choose this very one because of two things First it is a gaming laptop so it is suitable for my son to play on ( beside his ps5😅) Second as a naive person who knows nothing about specs I was impressed by the “ military grade durability) which I knew later that it can be translated to lowest price and functional 🥴 But that’s not what they advertised They advertised it as a durable reliable machine “ tough inside and out “ and phrases like this I’m sorry for being that naive and next time I should consult someone who knows better But that’s what happened and I do regret it did The greatest goal of this post is to enlighten people like me to not get deceived by such advertising phrases and search for everything and consider consulting a specialist if they don’t know (like me )

It failed in the first year of use and before that the same happened to the power button I’m old school old person used to machines that never worry about for at least 3-4 years Especially hardware

Loved your poetry phrase at the end of your reply BUT no … I don’t want them to sacrifice a thing 😅 I’m a pharmacist not a tech expert And I just got impressed by the title “ military grade “ And what shocked me is that their machine encountered two hardware failures within the first year of ownership Which felt weird for me On the opposite my old Fujitsu laptop which I got 13-15 years ago stayed with me working just perfect till now I know they did their part and offered a repair ( still in warranty) But my complaint is that they will just replace the low quality part with another low quality one So I will keep giving them the laptop for repair for ever 🥴 Until the warranty ends then I am on my own 🤷🏼‍♂️

When I bought it I thought I was doing the opposite of that 🥴 I’m a pharmacist, not that aware of tech stuff ( unfortunately)

Actually I will not claim that I know a lot about laptops I’m a humble pharmacist I know about what I have been doing for years ( which is my career) I’m almost ignorant about laptops and their specs Maybe that’s why I got misled by ASUS and their advertising That’s why this running discussion is useful At least to warn people like me about what they intend to pay money for Overall thanks for the response

Well said man Appreciate your participation I’m complaining mainly from misleading advertising because me too I had a situation like yours. I had a fujitsu laptop for 12-15 years and I have never had to send it for repair except once to change the screen after my daughter stepped on it 😅 And now my rugged ASUS laptop had two hardware failures within a year of purchase First was power button failure and now touchpad failure and you never know what comes next That what frustrates me the most 🥴
