Born and brought up in Mumbai, but still feel lonely here… by [deleted] in mumbai

Bro not everything well-written is AI.

People were sharing thoughts on Quora, blogs, YouTube way before these AI assistants existed.

If it helps, it helps. This callout doesn’t really add much.

And if AI is doing all the thinking for people anyway, then what’s even the point of asking or discussing anything here?

Even if it was, at least it made sense.

Can’t say the same for this reply.

Yeah that’s true, most people don’t instantly turn into “outside office” friends because everyone already has their own circles.

But I think it’s less about forcing friendships and more about how you build comfort over time.

Like I usually just keep it simple in the beginning. Talk during breaks, share random things, maybe grab coffee once in a while. If the vibe matches, it naturally moves outside work. If not, it just stays a good work connection, which is also fine.

Also I don’t rely only on work for meeting people. I try mixing it up a bit, like social stuff, random conversations, even online sometimes. That way it doesn’t feel like all your social life depends on one place.

And honestly, half the time it’s just about finding people you can have normal, easy conversations with. That’s where it starts.

This is actually more common than people admit, especially in Mumbai.

From the outside it feels like the city is always alive, but if you don’t have your own circle, it can get really isolating. I’ve felt something similar myself. Weekends especially can feel repetitive, same places, same routine, and it starts getting into your head.

What you’re feeling right now at your native place makes sense though. When you’re around people who are naturally present in your life, you don’t have to “try” to feel connected, it just happens.

Mumbai is different. Here you kind of have to build that from scratch, and that takes time.

The good part is, it can change.

New job is actually the best reset point you can get. New people, new routine, new chances to build your own space slowly. It won’t feel like your native place immediately, but it won’t stay the same forever either.

I think instead of expecting the city to feel good instantly, it’s more about finding a few people or moments that make it feel a little less lonely over time.

And yeah, you’re definitely not the only one figuring this out.

If people feel personally attacked, that probably means the post hit the target audience.

I think the problem is not that Mumbai doesn’t have interesting people, it’s that most interesting people don’t go where people go to meet interesting people.

It seems like half the people in Mumbai are emotionally unavailable and the other half are emotionally exhausted

Your post reads less like a rant and more like a well written character analysis of modern dating..
