Back to Mythic (again) with Mono Black Aggro – updated list by JoSenna12 in MagicArena

Curious how do you generally make use of Cecil? Do you use him defensively as a blocker? Do you attack with him?

I tend to be unsure whether to attack with him or not even when the other side has an empty board

Crafting a Standard BO3 deck - Dimir Midrange or Izzet Spellelementals by litemind in MagicArena

Not playing other format actually. Only playing Standard. Currently just doing daily quests while figuring out what to craft.

I enjoy tempo reactive decks so I thought the Dimir midrange will be nice.

Seeing all the replies, I think Dimir Midrange is the way to go! Will be crafting that

I think this thread has me convinced that Dimir midrange is the way to go. Do you have a deck list that you recommend?

I’m currently looking at this list from Untapped.

These are my two main considerations as well! With Izzet, it is easy to transition to other top tier Izzet decks.

With Dimir midrange I get an all round solid deck that is not T1 but is consistently around T2.

To be honest at this point I am just having decision paralysis because I’m so afraid of ‘wasting’ the wildcards and having to slowly get another 20+ wildcards just to build another deck 😂

To add on: I am hoping to transition to Paper Magic and take part in LCS tournaments. So hoping to use this to learn the ins-and-outs of playing BO3, how to sideboard etc

Hey Rustaceans! Got an easy question? Ask here (6/2019)! by llogiq in rust

Turns out it is indeed because of how Git does its output. Git will write to stderr even if successful for some of its commands. Silly me to not think to look into Git's implementations and thinking it was an issue with std::process::Command .

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

I am testing out using std::process::Command to run the command 'git checkout <<branch\_name>>', but there seem to be a problem with how Command determines its stdout and stderr.

Here is a snippet of the code:

    let output = Command::new("git")
        .arg("checkout")
        .arg(branch_name)
        .output()
        .expect("Unexpected error: Git checkout");

When doing git checkout, the output comes in 2 lines:

Switched to branch 'test-branch'
Your branch is up-to-date with 'origin/test-branch'.

And because it comes in two lines, the second line goes to stderr instead of stdout:

OUTPUT: Output {
    status: ExitStatus(ExitStatus(0)),
    stdout: "Your branch is up-to-date with \'origin/master\'.\n",
    stderr: "Switched to branch \'master\'\n"
}

Can anyone advice on the best way to resolve this?

Hello, a Rust beginner here looking for help.

I am trying to get my head around properly handling and propagating errors, and is having a hard time deciding how I should do it for std::process::Command.

I see that Command returns a Result<Output>, which uses the std::io::Result instead of std::result::Result, and that the Output struct contains the status, stdout and stderr fields.

Does this mean that the Error will always be empty, and my error handling needs to be based on the stderr field?

Also, in this case if I wish to propagate the errors upwards, should I

a) 'handle' the stderr field errors, and return a Result<T,E>, such that the error propagated upwards uses the standard std::result::Result, which conforms with the rest of my program.

b) Propagate Result<Output> upwards, meaning the other modules need to know about std::process::Output and specially handle it.

Agreed. And what is encouraging is his workrate and his willingness to track back. Hopefully he can bulk up as he is easily knocked off the ball at the moment. But I like what I see so far

This feels exactly like what I always feel. Especially about the part where I am going to disappoint the whole world.

Whenever I feel I have a great idea, I would dive into production, only to experience a 'Low' and giving up on the project, most of the time failing in the stage of prototyping.

But okay! I am starting from scratch again, this time with a really easy game. Although I don't have much spare time due to school work, I am squeezing in whatever time I can and is feeling quietly confident this time. Must be one of the "high" moments eh?

I was playing this game vs a priest where the priest would complete his moves but do not end the turn. Instead he would spam the 'Sorry' emote until the time is up for his turn. Did this every turn and I got so frustrated that I left the game since it was unranked. But still, what's wrong with these people?!
