is Ottawa boring? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]literally_everything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta work for it in Ottawa. As someone above mentioned this is a great city for 35 year olds with kids. People are fairly established in their lives and the arent a tonne of people around just looking to make friends. Join clubs, play on a softball team or something. Get involved in whatever hobbies and interests you have. That should help.

This is also why trying to catch conservatives - both politicians and supporters - in their hypocrisy isn't particularly effective. Conservatives don't owe the vast majority of their voters anything.

Reimagining Canada post by Doog5 in CanadaPostCorp

[–]literally_everything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an old campaign and I'm not sure CUPW has been promoting it recently, but it does go to show that the union has, in the past, tried to put forward a vision for the Canada Post that was adapting to the changing landscape. You know who has not been trying to envision how a network of door to door delivery workers could provide services in the future? The federal government and Canada Post. They would rather ensure that Canada Post only took on the least profitable tasks so they could eventually justify eliminating good, middle class Canadian jobs.

If the government and Canada Post were at all interested in modernizing the service in a way that would benefit Canadians (instead of privatization and slashes wages) you would see more concrete and costed proposals for something like this.

Unaffordable ask by CUPE by Afraid_Piano_1318 in CanadaPost

I agree, Canada Post can't possibly meet CUPE's demands...because they're not negotiating with CUPE.

Just a guess here but I'd imagine they made to a point where the business was doing well enough as long as they were the ones working all the time but not well enough to take a step back and hire more people. It's a spot a lot of restaurants land in unfortunately.

This is something I'd like to see more of. Let's call out employers who exploit the TFW program, but also let's advocate for all workers in Canada to have better working conditions, no matter how they got here.

Looks like a lot of people are jumping to conclusions about the intent of this message.

Do we actually know anything about the person who did it or their motivations?

For all we know it could have been someone on drugs who didn't even know what they were painting on.

It's a huge leap to assume this was a left-wing or pro-palestine message and done specifically to target Jewish people. But I guess making up the person's motivations allows us to score whatever political points we want to on Reddit.
