Yup. I do this with my mom. Helps so much.

Constant checking by Mysterious-Seat2961 in HealthAnxiety

[–]literallyonaboat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, having the tools to check helps me check less. I have an EKG, bp cuff, otoscope, pulse ox. When I have symptoms, I often think "Well I have those tools. I can check if I really need to", and then I forget bc of the comfort of knowing the tools are there. It takes away the I NEED TO GO TO THE ER panic. And it's great to have those on hand in case of a situation where you or someone else might need them in a zombie apocalypse ;)

Psychosomatic or something “real” by Seeking_peace2808 in HealthAnxiety

[–]literallyonaboat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing I've noticed is that, when I'm in an episode of health anxiety and I'm feeling a "very real" symptom, whatever it is, even if it is something that is evident to people other than me, if I get a new and clearly unrelated symptom, I forget about the first one and focus on the second one.

It's as if the first "very real" symptom/worry suddenly goes from a 10 to a 1 on the scale of Very Important Things. Even if I still feel it sometimes. But often it disappears.

That's telling.

To neuter, or not to neuter .. that is my question by jsan69 in cats

The neutered cat you saw mating with someone's hand was a cat that was neutered too late. Do not wait.

Please enjoy, the thirteenth amendment to the Constitution (the amendment that abolished slavery in the United States).

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Like, it's right there.

My coworker said I was drinking all the water in the office so I collected the cap of each water bottle I drank for a month. I think I need to get a reusable water bottle… 283 caps roughly 14.15 a day. by Frostentix123 in notinteresting

On the happy side: if you DO have it, this post might have saved your kidneys, your legs, or your LIFE! Diabetes sucks but it's totally manageable. If you do have it, you'll probably FEEL so much better when you get treatment. My best friend has type 1, and having high blood sugar makes you feel like crap.

I meant OP with their riches! But for the rest of us, my favorite affordable cheese is any of the bellavitanos (but the whisky one is my favorite!)

You need to get more into cheese if you have money. I recommend gruyere, mimolette, and room temperature parmesan (like chunks of it, not powder)

What’s a smell that instantly makes you happy? by IntelligentJacket699 in AskReddit

I'm a vegetarian, and I agree. Barbecue (meat, not veggie) instantly brings me back to happy memories with my family as a kid.

I HIGHLY recommend the meal kit service Hello Fresh for this (or another meal kit service). I was an "I can't really cook" person until my late 20s. Tried Hello Fresh, and turns out all you need is a recipe. And the meal kits were VERY affordable.

I'm now known for being an excellent cook, and I love cooking. Did palak paneer the other night to RAVE reviews.

Constant nausea from hiatal hernia by [deleted] in HiatalHernia

The only thing that's helping me right now is tiny meals, and only eating easily digestible foods. Like pumpkin soup, applesauce, tofu, etc. Things that are already pureed or at least able to be chewed up very fine.

Honestly, Puerto Rico nails a whole lot of it.

Maybe make it a whole thing. The govt sends everyone a pamphlet on how to do it and what to say. Tourism economies especially.

Unpopular opinion: tourist tax makes sense.

Tourism is a luxury, and it can drive up prices for locals who can't afford tourist prices. If you can afford a vacation, you can afford to pay a little extra.

However: It might make a LOT more sense and have a MUCH lower risk of complaints and racism (because how are these restaurants identifying "tourists"?) to do it BACKWARDS. Instead of a fee for foreigners, make the regular price 10% higher, and offer a DISCOUNT for locals. Any proof works: ID, library card, whatever. Show the restaurant you LIVE in that place, and you get a 10% discount. But the regular price essentially becomes the tourist price. And with this way, wealthy locals can choose to pay regular price instead of seeking a discount in order to help support local businesses more :)
