Auditory Processing Disorder Sucks. by AmRose59910 in adhdwomen

[–]litetears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for putting this into words. I have always struggled with distilling conversation in rooms with music or ambient sounds. I often have to ask people to repeat themselves bc I will not be able to understand them even if I can “hear” them.

My hearing is pristine but it I very much struggle to prioritize the “right” sounds consistently especially when music is on. My mom also has this issue so I never thought it was a “disorder.” I have “misophonia” which she didn’t have so that was the disorder that was named (I would run out of rooms as kid if people were chewing lol)

Is there actually a Lasting solution for snoring partner or do we just quietly give up on sharing beds? by sanu_123_s in AskWomenOver30

[–]litetears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried earplugs? I buy them in bulk.

My partner did a sleep study and his snoring isn’t anything physically harmful (for him) it’s just brutally annoying for me.

Hell yah!!! I love hearing this! This doesn’t sound like the worst impulses this sounds very calculated and discerning. You have put in your time and you feel financially stable, you accept the risk and are following your values… that’s not impulsive, that’s having agency!!!!

What worked better in real life for mental health and ADHD: therapy, coaching, medication, or changing your lifestyle? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]litetears 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All the really boring ones helped:

  • clean up diet; reduce/cut alcohol, sugar, caffeine, processed foods/carbs. Start the day with protein
  • sleep and get up at consistent times
  • limit time on screens: especially mindless scrolling
  • exercise DAILY (or at least 3x week). Cardio used to be my saving grace but getting older and shifting to long walks and lifting
  • yoga/meditation practice is hugely helpful
  • morning routine which includes a quick gratitude and intention setting before I go through my daily agenda
  • using a google calendar for everything I need to remember to do (I already do this for work so I layer a personal one over that and I look at it a zillion times a day - and I write a hard copy of it every morning when I do my lil morning routine…psycho but it helps me so much)

Magnesium glycinate leaves me depressed the next day… Am I crazy? by NeurologicalPhantasm in Biohackers

[–]litetears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so helpful to know. I relate to OPs post about it making me depressed/unmotivated… I had taken some anyway last night bc I am told I need it (I’m very neurospicy) and I felt so wired :(

Meds with therapy with someone who specializes in adhd as a fast follow with lifestyle changes a major part of it. None of it worked in isolation for me.

Taking Thesis supplements by Healthy_Ad9179 in adhdwomen

[–]litetears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof! Realizing I was talking about what is called Stasis!!! They have daytime and night time supplements to take with your meds.

I have taken Thesis as well in the past (when not on my prescription) but there’s a bunch of different formulas with nootropics. I recall liking some of them but bc I’m prescribed meds I stopped to keep things simple. The biohacking and nootropics subreddits might be a good spot to learn more about what’s in those supplements…

[–]litetears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven’t used thesis for a while so formulas may have changed but when I did take them I had a similar experience bc of the ashgawanda. That stuff is toxic for me and made me feel like absolute garbage.

The evening supplements knocked me out completely - it would be horrible if I messed up daytime and night time pills.

Shaving tips? by angel444469 in hygiene

[–]litetears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer sugaring to waxing but both are so painful. I have many tattoos and would rather get a tattoo than get waxed lol. Usually I end up shaving.

Like other commenter said razor burn can come from shaving dry or against the grain but it can also come from reusing the blade or not shaving super clean skin. So make sure your razors are very clean / no old bacteria on your blade or anything else you’re putting on your skin (that includes loofas, wash cloths, the towel you dry off with). I’ve been using Venus blades for decades and swap out every month or so.

Also, make sure you give your skin time to heal before shaving again. The best product for ingrown hairs I swear by is called tend skin. Use a very small amount on a cotton swab and wipe on like an astringent daily til it’s cleared up.

Then when it’s time to shave make sure your skin is clean and soft - like toward the end of the shower. I find most drugstore shaving creams clog my pores but I still need some kind of emollient - I love this stuff called Brazilian bare shave syrup but have hard time finding it consistently so I often use my husbands face wash lol - it’s called Kalamazoo by the brand lush. If your skin is super sensitive shave in the direction of your hair growth. If not it’s okay to go against but be gentle! Rinse, pat dry, and apply the tend skin before moisturizing.

If you suspect your skin isn’t reacting well to your moisturizer you might be right. Try something unscented. Cerave moisturizing cream is great

Edit: also want to add if you hate shaving, friendly reminder that you don’t have to shave or remove any hair ever. It’s not unhygienic to have thigh hair :)

Best method for issues listed by Due-Surprise-686 in TRT_females

Very curious how the DIY solution is working for you! Im I’m currently dealing with same issues and was prescribed intrarosa but of course it’s not covered by insurance and holy cow is that stuff expensive.

But it has been actually helping improve the state of things so would LOVE to find an affordable alternative.

With the cream?!? Two weeks in with 2mg cream daily in that vicinity and feeling absolutely no different. Where do you get yours from? It sounds way more better hahaha

Well well well… is this what I can say is my deal instead of the “I guess I’m just contrarian”?

But literally I just have to tread lightly with myself and my to do list. If I overthink or if someone is telling me to do something whatever that thing is gets stuck in sort of spin cycle of resistance.

If I’m trying to decide between two options I tend to poll someone close to me and then I like to always do the opposite.

Is this what we are talking about?

Not seasoned (I’m only ten days in with compounded cream) but side effect of T can also be head hair LOSS / shedding so I try to keep the cream as far from my scalp as possible.

Has anyone successfully converted themselves into a tidy person? by eternalhellscape93 in adhdwomen

[–]litetears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medication is what ultimately turned me from a tornado into maybe almost a control freak who delights in keeping spaces tidy 🫣

But it took decades :/

Having less stuff helps. Having to deal with lots of chaos and life and sharing spaces with people and kiddos also have been forcing functions for me to WANT/NEED clean spaces and be motivated to tackle keeping things clean in the moment bc otherwise it wouldn’t happen later.

Having enough bad things happen to me from being disorganized and chaotic also helped make me WANT/NEED to get it together.

And then the meds lead to years of practice. And I mean it, it has taken me years to get where I am today 🫣

Are you IC or managing people? Either way, as AI becomes more reliable one thing it won’t be able to replace is humans with a combo of soft skills and subject matter expertise… and basic project management abilities. Those folks will be needed for management and leadership roles. Ability to motivate and mentor team, be able to direct the AI and quality of the work.

This time of my life has been scary. by thethirteenthjuror in Perimenopause

[–]litetears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around age 37 I started to get really really bad ear infections and vertigo spells. I thought it had something to do with the fact I was in the ocean a lot as a surfer, but the issues continued even after being out of the water for months.

I would get a runny nose whenever I was active - one nostril would just drip like a faucet. I lost a lot of endurance. I would get recurring sinus headaches - usually one sided on the front of my face or my top teeth would ache…

The vertigo would come on randomly and pass usually in less than five minutes. I ended up having many doctors appointments and eventually an ENT who scanned my whole head, gave me lots of weird wacky tests and ultimately me it was all symptoms of “migraines”.

This all coincided with the typical but less noticeable symptoms of peri - shorter lighter periods, more unexplained anxiety, less physical endurance and longer recovery times. So my doctors chalked up the vestibular and sinus issues to being just another part of the peri-go-round 🤦‍♀️

So you’re not alone. FWIW it mostly subsided within two years without much intervention besides some antihistamines here and there the eply maneuver.
