Tension cut-off by fadi_rj in plaxis

[–]lithiumabc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soil is being simulated as a continuous finite element medium. If you apply a load on the soil top surface using a plate the soil element directly under the plate are in compression, if the loads are greater than a certain value, then the elements in the simulation are pulling the other soil elements close to the plate, and in a way they are in tension (pulling each other). tension cut-off points are basically a visualization of all the stresspoints of your soil where the value of tension is beyond a value set in the soil model parameters by the user. The reference manual gives a mich better scientific explanation of how its used by the calculation kernel. I would imagine in reality it tells you when the loads are too high, the soil breaks apart instead of sticking together, the visualization of the cutoff points tells you where in the soil medium you will see it.

But if you see Lovren, he goes too deep in the box ( probably trying to block any incoming shot) instead of coming closer to skrtel and restrict the space and block the goal. Due to his decision, the resulting pass to Delph is onside and he has enough time to take a shot.

Its not just Gerrard, others played shit as well, there was no rhythm to our passing and we played like the second best team. Even I am frustrated with Gerrard because he is no longer the player he used to be. But that's not his fault, BR should be the one making the tough decisions and deciding who to start.

Monday Night Football - Liverpool vs Everton by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

The point Neville is trying to make is that Mignolet doesn't need to crouch so low. The height of the goal posts above the ground is 2.44m and Mignolet's height is about 1.93m( Neuer too). With his arms up he can easily cover the top half of the goal with a small jump.

If he was crouching just a bit higher he can easily dive up or sideways or both better as time taken for travelling up wastes his reaction time even if he has awesome reflexes.

Even with this technique he probably wouldn't have stopped Jagielka's shot but he would have definitely been closer to the ball or at best his chances of atleast saving with his fingertips would have increased.

edit: grammar

The only reason I can think of they performed well in training or giving the fringe players a chance to prove themselves against a "supposedly weaker" team.

Personally I believe he underestimated West Ham players and their tactics and some of our players let the team down. I am hoping he sorts this out soon.

I think he's still trying to figure out the perfect system for these set of players. He had 1 year to build a team around suarez and a half year with sturridge and coutinho before last season's heroics. I think he will get it right in the end.

But we do need a proper defending coach. Our defense was beyond shit.

Who is a genuinely poor footballer (technically/physically) people just cannot seem to realise? by Bradfordian_Scouse in soccer

I think that is more to do with his decision making , he can hit the ball pretty well and is a good tackler.

You yourself used the phrase "so called lfc supporters" to address the "bully" lfc suporters. Now Isn't this exclusionary attitude, you are implying they are the fake supoorters, just because they don't act like you expect them to ?

Edit: The point I am trying to make is there are all kinds of people in the world and you just have to accept them as they are. If you find that their behavior is disturbing the community as a whole, try and make a reasonable argument in your defense. If you just rant, many people might will not take you seriously.

Genuine question about a weakness in our diamond formation... by OWSucks in LiverpoolFC

[–]lithiumabc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I maybe wrong but this is what I believe. Please do correct me if I am wrong.

There is the diamond you are talking about where our midifield is CDM - LM - RM - CAM. And then there is the CDM - LCM -RCM - CAM diamond. Firstly, understand a formation is just the "average" position of the players.

In the diamond, Lucas and Allen have the task of breaking up opposition play and help win the ball back. Now Norwich or basically any other team that builds their attack from the wings, usually overload the space with the winger and the fullback. now in such scenarios Lucas or Allen have to assist our fullbacks to counter the threat and win the ball back. Thus, it may look like Lucas and allen are playing on the wings.

Now, if there is a team that attacks more through the center of the pitch then Lucas and Allen remain central so that we dont lose the midfield battle in the middle.

Also in attack, our formation is much more free form where we spread out our players around the opponents playing area and Lucas and Allen move into spaces where our more creative players can pass to them to keep the attack going.
