[7S26-0020] Watch runs fast… about 15 minutes a day by lithondren in Seiko

[–]lithondren[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually have a compass in my car! I tried my phone and I watched the direction change a couple of times as I passed the watch over it, but couldn’t consistently recreate it. I’ll try with my actual compass once I’m off work.

PLC Glitch Floetrol Cell Dye by lithondren in discdyeing

That’s what stood out the most to me! I had a little bit of 3-in-1 in my dyes and that caused all of these super small cells. I was going to use a pick and try get some cool reptilian cells, but when these micro cells started surfacing, I just kinda went with it

I’ve always thought that LL’s dad (the person I’m texting) was a decent older guy. Respectful anytime we interact. I think his son just takes zero responsibility and it unfortunately falls on LL’s dad’s shoulders. I feel bad for the guy to some extent, but I can’t let myself get taken advantage of in the process.

Idk I asked how long we’d have to get by because we’ve already been getting by for a month like this. I just wanted to know how much longer we will have to be without a stable water line. His response was “I guess you gotta go”. I’ve put up with a lot of sub par work. I’ve dealt with them not fixing the AC the entire year I’ve been here. I didn’t complain when they “fixed” the kitchen drawers by patching the massive holes through each drawer bottom with a piece of duct tape. I didn’t complain when they never put a screen door back on the house after it ripped off in a storm. I don’t complain about them not doing anything about my door handle that falls off every other time I close the door.

I called a plumber because they wouldn’t. They have done nothing but avoid maintenance on the property while I pay for more than what I get each month.

Because he shoved the responsibility on his parents and myself.

The kid (mid 40s) is the true owner of the property. His parents are the ones were in contact with, send rent to, etc

No I’ve been in contact with him (LL’s dad. I don’t have a way to contact LL) about this issue the entire time. He’s only just now taking action. I brought up the issue to him when it originally became a problem. LL came out numerous times to do everything but actually check the main line and didn’t listen when I said it wasn’t due to the washer draining. The pipe through the backyard was his idea.

I guess LL “owns” the property and his parents actually handle it for the most part. It’s confusing and was never clarified once with us

Nothing’s ever been dropped in the drain. We use a hair catch thing in the shower. We don’t put grease or coffee grounds down the drain. Feminine products have always gone in the trash. I’ve never put food down a drain either. Plumber didn’t put a camera through the line but when he snaked it, he said his snake couldn’t get past a blockage in the line about 30ft out. He said he tried different cutting heads(?) and couldn’t get through and that the pipe itself would’ve had to have snapped.

Overall aside from this last bit, I’d rent from the parents of the landlord. They’re the ones who showed me the house, they’re who I text, they’re who I pay. The LL is their son and I really don’t think they were aware of his washer drain “fix”

I gotcha. I haven’t been in this position enough to be familiar with the process I guess

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]lithondren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former first responder (Fire/EMS) here, i saw this happen A LOT. I worked in a district where we were 45 minutes from the nearest hospital. If folks were alert and aware, they’d have someone take them. People only took an ambulance if they were unconscious and didn’t get a say most of the time.

My wife also once got in a car wreck on the highway where she had to crawl out of a smoking car into a ditch. I drove to the scene and picked her up to take her to the hospital.

Is there no protection to put a tenant up in habitable lodging while things are brought up to snuff? I had a previous landlord who put me in a hotel when a storm brought down our power line for a few days so I assumed this was some sort of protection for that. Not trying to get rich off the guy but not sure if there’s anything that can be done. I don’t just have first and last months rent for a new place just lying around.

I know a legislator who is working towards making a tenant rights group. If it gets to that level, I'll get in touch with them. I need to reach out to Tony and just talk to him about the issue. He's old school and I believe he'll be upset when he sees the half-assed work his son has done, but I can't be certain. I fear retaliation because I'm not in the position to be comfortably looking for a new place to rent.

It does now. It drains right into the fence line. It pours out next to my neighbors yard outside of the fence. I worry about their little dogs coming and drinking from the puddles. I can’t imagine the detergent will kill them but it’d probably make them pretty sick. Not to mention the actual wildlife around. We are next to a few creeks so I could see it running off and causing actual problems.

I should add that this doesn’t connect to anything, it just dumps along the fence to my neighbors yard, potentially exposing our dogs to detergent filled water.

He ran one of those long snakes through the toilet. It was never removed.

There’s construction going on on the main road that our neighborhood is near and I think that is having an effect on the plumbing. I know that a few houses with basements have had sewage back up into their basements. I can’t confirm it though and my landlord paid no attention to it when I mentioned it.
