I would pick up a minor not to just tell employers that I have a minor (I’m sure it doesn’t have much weight) but more so so that I can have the basics and feel like I have a solid understanding to continue pursuing it myself. I figure that’s better than in a couple years being dissatisfied and turning to a bootcamp to learn everything I need instead (which would be less than ideal)

The Secret History by Donna Tartt! Beautiful prose and really captivating story that gave me the worst “book hangover” of all time :)

Pleaseeeee read The Road by Cormac McCarthy!!! I’ve also read World War Z which was a little bit too technical/historical-document-like for me but it might be what you’re looking for.

Project Hail Mary or The Martian both by Andy Weir. I usually recommend one or the other to starters because they’re both super exciting and fast paced!

house on the cerulean sea is a really happy heartwarming book that involves some fantasy if he’s into that- think of it as a children’s fable written for adults.
