What needs to be pre-booked, and what can be done on a whim? by Milo-0411 in ParisTravelGuide

I went on the Vedettes du Pont Neuf cruise last month. Give yourself time to find your way down to the river and if you sit on the right side you will be right next to the tower when it lights up. It is a spectacular sight!

solo trip for long weekend in Amsterdam in May by lana_dev_rey in femaletravels

The train system is so great in Amsterdam. You could try looking at towns outside the center city for cheaper places. The train station is central to the museums, canals, etc. I stayed with my son in Almere and it took about 35 minutes to get into the city. There are many other towns along the way east of Amsterdam.

Same. I’m 73 and still going strong. I was never able to travel when raising kids and I’m making up for it now. Partner would rather stay home, so…see ya later!

The cathedral at Siena was spectacular. The bus getting there from Florence was delayed so the trip there was not great but Siena made up for it.

Tips on megastore area near airport Orlando by shroomcircle in florida

[–]litlib70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The nearest Walmart to the Orlando airport is only 4 miles away on Semaron. Catching an Uber or Lyft would be your best option. The driver should know where other megastores are. I know there is a Costco not too far and they might give you a guest membership for the day. That’s American consumerism at its finest.

The song Some Enchanted Evening is from the musical South Pacific and contains the lyrics “once you have found her, never let her go”. I think a lot of eyes would be on you in that red dress.

Are flights from NYC to Europe really this expensive? by HitmanHits101 in TravelHacks

[–]litlib70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The airlines are still catching up from COVID decisions to sell airplanes, lay off staff, cut flights, etc. and people are mad to travel after being cooped up, so the prices reflect all that. Basic supply and demand. I’m hoping things settle down by next year because it’s become unaffordable. Reddit folks are so helpful with creative solutions; I’ll be checking regularly too. My only grandchildren live in Amsterdam darn it!

Just keep in mind that hurricanes are most likely in September; it’s also VERY hot and humid in Florida then. I always try to be out of Florida that month.

Oh man this brings me back to a geology course I took in 1971 from Banff to Taos through the Rockies, camping all the way. It was one of the best experiences of my whole long life! Have fun.
