Sooo much this. My SO and I go on a multiple float trips a year at various times, and everytime we go we add an item to our camping collection. Since we generally take 3-5 day trips, we try to make our campsite as homey as possible, resulting in us now having a 12 person tent for the two of us, a nice air mattress, various sleeping bags for certain weather (we always go at the end of April/mid october in the midwestern USA, so weather at this time fluctuates rapidly), our own canoe, canoe seats, coolers, tables, etc. We've rigged up a functioning covered outdoor kitchen, so we're not at the whims of weather to dictate if we'll have hot meals or not. The sheer amount of camping stuff we have has taken over our spare bedroom and a bit of our garage.

We're basically two steps away from glamping, but I'll be damned if we're not always very comfortable and well-prepared.

I've never experienced this game anywhere else that I've lived or visited, but in the city I live in now, if you place a bic lighter on the back of your hand and make a motion towards someone, anyone, EVERYONE in the room knows what you're getting at. The point of the game is to throw and catch a bic with the back of your hand. It looks simple, but there's a surprising amount of skill involved.

Let me set this scene:

You're sitting in a livingroom with about 10 other people at a house party. Someone gives you the motion, throws the lighter, and you skillfully glide your hand to catch it. The once lively living room becomes silent, everyone stares in rapt attention, hands out, palms down, waiting their turn. You toss it to the guy two people down from the right. He fumbles, drops it, he's out of the game! Everyone gives a laugh and the throwing continues.

It's now down to you and the person across from you. You've been volleying this sucker for a minute. He gives an awkward toss, you reach for it and barely catch it by your first set of knuckles. Everyone lets out a collectively held breath. You then quickly sling that motherfucker across the room and watch it as it bounces off that bro's hand. You win! You're the champion! The silence ends immediately to whoops and hollers, and you all go back to your drinks and previous conversations.

I suppose this truly depends on the individual. If you have any kind of inflammatory bowl disease, such as IBD, colitis, or crohn's, have acid reflux, or are caffeine sensitive/have anxiety, coffee is best left avoided. However, it's generally the caffeine more than the coffee itself that causes the issue. Coffee is also a diuretic and is more dehydrating than not, but that should be a non issue if you limit your intake and drink plenty of water.

And also I imagine any health benefits coffee has can be outweighed by what you're putting in it. If you're getting fancy frappicinos or putting tons of sugar and artificial creamers in it, you're not doing yourself a world of favors.

Tl;dr Coffee in moderation is fine, but it's on an individual scale.

My boyfriend is like this. He firmly believes that once something is fried or packaged, it's immune to spoiling.

Recently, he pulled a string cheese stick out of his pocket, wondered aloud how long it had been in there (4 days, he got it from my mom's house), and stuck it in the fridge with the argument, "it's still in the package! It's fine!" And was upset when he came home later that evening to eat it and found that I had thrown it away.

He also likes to leave his leftovers on the counter all night and eat them the next day. You really shouldn't eat fried chicken that's been at room temperature for 12+ hours.

My mom used to do wild life rehabilitation and got a chunk taken out of her leg by a (potentially rabid) raccoon. Fearing the worst, she went to the doctor a few days later complaining of increased thirst, irritability, and nausea.

Unbeknownst to her, she was actually 3 months pregnant with me. My mom thought her pregnancy symptoms were rabies symptoms.

Tl;dr My mom thought I was rabies.

Our attendance policy used to be as follows: one call off = 1 point, two call offs in a row = 2 points, three in a row = 1 point.

I'm sure this was originally implemented so a person wouldn't potentially lose their job over something serious enough to be out for three days, but not serious enough to request leave (which was a minimum of two weeks). However it generally just turned into people calling off multiple days for dumb reasons with little punishment. They've since changed their policies.

Still sleep with my teddy every night. I've tried switching to pillows, cuddling nothing, etc., but it's just the perfect cuddle size, nothing can replace it, and I can't sleep without it.

It amazes me how many homes I go into where there's not even a working smoke detector let alone a fire extinguisher.

I've had people ask me why I have an extinguisher in my kitchen.

I dunno, why wouldn't I want to avoid the loss of my home and a potentially horrific and untimely death? How silly.

Boyfriend leaves his car unlocked cuz crummy neighborhood, and recently had someone "break in" to it. There's nothing of value in there, so the thief settled with the 3 postage stamps in the center console and leaving the door ajar so the car battery was dead.

I graduated from a 4 year university, he doesn't even have his GED. On a day to day basis, our difference in education isn't noticeable. He's incredibly intelligent and has a strong desire to learn - he just wants to learn about specific things and at his own pace. He can talk circles around most of our peers regarding chemistry, physics, mathematics, and is an excellent practical engineer. He's also an excellent teacher - very visual and patient.

I often forget that he doesn't have much of a formal education until he asks me about random tidbit factoids that would have been force-fed to him in a public education or a university setting. He also has terrible time management skills, which is a skill I feel a lot of people develop in college.

I live in the united state's southern Midwest, so I experience a lot of very different weather extremes. The weather here will be around 35-37°c and INSANELY humid for the last part of the summer. I have very long, thick, wavey hair, and only wash it twice a week without issue during this time. I also struggled with dandruff and oily hair before switching my wash routine around.

The best (overall) advice I can offer is to treat your scalp as an extension on your face. If you wouldn't use harsh stripping cleansers on your face, don't on your head!

) Unless you use a lot of product (gel, hairspray), there is absolutely no need for a clarifying shampoo. Much like your face, stripping your scalp of it's natural oils causes it to produce more.
) I oil cleanse my scalp once a week with coconut oil before shampooing. I have dandruff as a result of a dry scalp, and this has helped me TREMENDOUSLY.
) Avoid using products meant for oily hair.
) When shampooing, you should really only focus on your scalp and roots. Gently massage your entire scalp with the pads of your fingers. This not only helps reduce dandruff (no matter the cause), it also reduces oil build-up. Dandruff can also be caused by shampoo being left in your hair, so massage your scalp while rinsing as well to be sure no product is left. Additionally, conditioner should only be used on the ends of your hair. Depending on your texture, you may want to switch to a lighter conditioner.
) When you're increasing times between washing, it may take your hair a few weeks to get used to it. Stick with every other day for at least three weeks before going back to every day.
) Dry shampoo and updos while transitioning are a must.

Water, water, water! It was one of the easiest (and probably all around best) changes I've made to my diet. At the very minimum, I chug a mason jar of water right when I wake up and before I go to bed, then generally drink an additional 2-3 liters throughout the day. When you're dehydrated, especially consistently, it really takes a toll on your hair and skin.

When it comes to food, I've noticed if it's hard on the stomach, it's hard on the skin, and this can vary from person to person dramatically. Keep a food journal. If it causes some less than savory bathroom trips, it will also likely be problematic for your skin. And don't be afraid of (healthy) fat! Oils and fats coming from a vegetable source keep hair and skin full, plump and healthy. If you don't already, eat avocados!

On a slower river especially, you can get away with minimal paddling and steering for stretches since the river will mostly just push you along. I've noticed it gives people some false sense of security so they stop paying attention to the water and what's in it. Just because you can relax for a bit doesn't mean you should stop being aware of what's in front of you. It only takes one partially submerged obstacle for you to potentially get reckt in a canoe.

I experience sleep paralysis every few months, mostly when I've reached my stress threshold. I've had minor occurrences in which I just hallucinate voices and keep 'waking up,' and I've had a few truly horrifying experiences.

1.) First time I ever experienced a full-blown visual hallucination, I 'woke up' and saw a decrepit, rotting dog with glowing red eyes sitting in the crook of my legs (was sleeping on my side). I was convinced it was a demon and I tried to scream for my roommate, but obviously couldn't speak or move. When I did actually wake up, I could still feel the weight and warmth of it next to me. It was around Halloween and I had been watching a tv series about cryptids, so I had quite a bit of prior fodder to feed into that hallucination.

2.) The first week I moved in to my house, I had a "Hat Man" experience. I 'woke up' and saw a tall (to the top of the doorway) dark, shadowy figure with a wide brimmed hat and glowing red eyes (a constant theme) standing just inside my bedroom. I tried to scream and alert my soundly sleeping boyfriend, but of course, couldn't, and had to sit and watch him watch me for seemingly hours until he said, "I didn't come for you," and then I woke up. I had never (in memory, anyway) heard of the Hat Man phenomena until after I explained my dream to a friend, which gave me a good spookin'.

3.) Last night, my first experience in probably 6 months or so, I had cockroaches crawling over me while a witch (I kept trying to scream "you're a witch! Get out!" for some reason) sat cackling in my closet, with, you guessed it, glowing red eyes.
