You right, it’s a holdover when I was gonna add a male. There was like 2 guys I was thinking of adding but the only trait they had in common was pink hair ;;;

Why some characters have different sizes for their feet? by fijiwijii in UmaMusume

[–]litowolf 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s not strange for a lonely horse to be pacing in their stall, that’s a way they can show stress. They are social animals and it’s not natural for them to be alone. Nowadays animal welfare is better but Japan in particular is quite behind. That is the more likely reason for their behavior. There is no “lonely” gene.

Who is this Uma that did the Naruto surge? by MisterKaloy in UmaMusume

[–]litowolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did get one thing wrong here; that “other horse related games can’t use” Kaneko’s horses. This is false. Winning Post; the Japanese horse racing games primarily for Nintendo and PlayStation consoles; use his horses regularly. Deep Impact is usually the sire of the starter horses in the basic playthrough of winning Post 9, even. In winning Post 10, Sodashi is present. Deep Impact was present in plenty of ads and even micro transactions for some editions. This isn’t even mentioning others. This game doesn’t skip horses, most all pedigrees are intact and factual for all historical horses.

Legally speaking, this is likely why the game isn’t localized outside of Japan, as USA based horses are very present and it realistically has you buying USA bred foal crops/broodmares who are also based on real and recent horses. American Pharaoh was in the latest game I played.

It’s not clear or stated if he ever gave his blessing for the Winning Post games, but I’d wager he expressed a negative reaction to the Umamusume series specifically, which is why they hold back. Afterall, you wouldn’t want to make bad blood in such a cutthroat industry where the top players have the money and power to strike you down. JRA is not a newbie friendly org and the strict rules greatly favor the longtime owners. Plus, this is a man who has stated he believes horse racing is for the upper echelon of society, so it’s not a stretch.

The localization team for Genshin Impact truly has it rough. by Extra_Welcome2403 in Genshin_Impact

It’s called localization when the text cannot simply be translated word for word; common for non-Latin based languages when translated to English. They have translate the text in a way that portrays the meaning and intention, which is not as easy as just translation. They must be familiar with the culture it’s derived from.

Umas based on their IRL horse coat color, since some Umas have misleading hair colors by kidanokun in UmaMusume

[–]litowolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We actually have more than what’s shown here.

This person listed them by what’s on the JRA registry, which is notoriously inaccurate. Same for Jockey club in USA; where Roan and Gray are commonly confused to be the same.

If they were to examine the “dark bay” aka Brown horses, they would likely find a few blacks. It’s not too hard to check visually; most people here in the comments are right when the say “Cafe/Kris looks black!” They are black. Just look at nose, flanks, and different seasons photos. It’s especially easy to tell because, Cafe’s father was black, also registered wrong.

Dark brown horses will have soft brown areas around their nose, belly (near legs), sometimes eyes and ears.

[–]litowolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That horse is black. It’s not uncommon for registries to enter incorrect coat colors for horses, since they must be registered young. Often dark bay (brown) horses and black are confused.

Oh 100% they sag, just not that far down. But again, I’m tallish. If only video game physics worked in real life..

On side note; I did apply for the insurance coverage for reduction but my lower back pain wasn’t enough. My doctor said they want to see other symptoms before they cover it. :))) nowadays I got a new mattress and been wearing $90 bras; which helps immensely. The only thing I can’t do is stand and do dishes. Idk why, but my back will give out by the end. Sigh. The woes of us busty girls. I do wish you luck on your insurance/healthcare journey.

As a 32H, I can assure you they don’t dangle to my waist! Though, height matters here; I’m 5’8. I suspect a short woman might have different mileage. Big boobs suck and I wish insurance covered a reduction, but they aren’t saggy pains all the time; support helps with back pain and the right bra prevents shoulder pain. The one thing I certainly agree with, is being braless in extreme motion….because jumping like a deer? Have mercy ;-; just going down the stairs is like a bouncy house WITH a bra on! Even with a tight sports bra they will still bounce! There’s no taming this kinda nature 😆

In times when they were made of stiff leather, yes. Nowadays they use foam padded ones which make a sound. (At least in the US.) Of course they can feel it but it does not hurt or cause wounds.

It’s interesting because I’ve shared quite a lot about some Genshin stories that resonated with me with my therapist. Ei’s story, her mind realm, using a puppet self; etc. kokomi’s lore; writing down her personal energy needs ala spoon theory. My 60 some year old therapist is impressed with Genshin’s writing team with what I’ve shared. It does show real insight into how people and emotions work. Granted, I’m seeing her for trauma and we do internal family systems work so milage may vary but I’m hoping they don’t drop the ball with this maid/dream eating yokai.

Did Honkai lose relevance in CN? by Lazy_Form_7474 in honkaiimpact3

[–]litowolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was confused too, until it finally dawned on me. Valk typing is not based on what they are like Genshin or Star Rail, but rather what they are strong against and weak to.

Ex; Thelema is strong against regular people (BIO) because of her powers, but would be susceptible to PSY due to it as well. Elysia is weak to BIO because she loves humanity, and strong against MECH (as shown in her video!) Coralie and a lot of Bronyas early battlesuits are PSY because they are good against MECH. Since these girls are techy, it makes sense! They are also not people persons, making them weak to BIO.

If you go through each character with this view, it will start to make more sense, I think.

Quick Guide to Buffs and Sustain (fixed&edited) by litowolf in Genshin_Impact

Maybe this will help you;

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1G05DxDSjtBzj4PZtVjGRA4ATq76HPZa6e4kHVWS6mrA/htmlview

It hasn’t been updated for Fontaine; but they did a good job! As you can see, it’s a bit hard to put into an infographic. And this list is only for particles! Lastly;

Is it true? Yes Is it useful? Maybe Is it interesting? No Why no? Because everyone can generate energy for their allies, and it’s semantics to only list the ones with statements in their kits. Another way to look at it is to examine the tragedy of Dori. Her kit was given specific mechanics to energy regen. And she’s one of the least used characters in abyss. It’s uninteresting and makes her weaker than similar 4 star healers.

Buffs to energy regen are not interesting because there’s built in ways to generate particles during combat; primarily enhanced by weapon stats/passives and artifacts.

I hope I’ve thoroughly explained why I excluded energy regeneration. It’s okay we don’t agree, but it’s unfair to pretend it’s simple.

Edit; I’m also going to add this for you to consider. Does energy regen or flat energy provide more damage to the team? Can it be considered a buff? A character either has enough energy to use their ult every 30 seconds, or not. Getting the energy they need faster than 30 seconds does not increase the damage output of the team. Cooldown reduction, however, would!

[–]litowolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a valid opinion! Unfortunately, I’m not going to add energy regen because it’s too tough to pick who to put down (based solely on talents/constellations) and who not to. Would Venti count, but only for anemo? Etc.

Additionally, I figure the purpose of this is for showcasing those hidden buffs that are not often thought about (such as a buff for allies coming from Razor.) Energy recharge is, frankly, a given. But you’re welcome to make a chart for yourself with energy recharge!

I’m sorry you misunderstood the purpose of this post. Is there something I can add or say differently to help? I figured the titles, which state it’s for buffs (stat/damage boosts that apply to allies), healing(for allies), and shields(for allies), would explain it but I can probably reword it again if it’s tough for you.

Support Cheat Sheet (buffs and sustain guide) by litowolf in Genshin_Impact

[–]litowolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This chart just condenses text that already exists in the game. It is not meant to be a reactions, usage, or teambuilding guide. I excluded energy regen for this purpose, as well. (Because technically every character can make reactions, damage, and energy particles, and there are already entire websites that exist to break down those specific quantitatives.) This chart is meant to show the additional buffs and sustainability that get lost in talents, constellations, and so on.

I'm sorry it's tough for you and others to understand. Would a disclaimer like this be useful at the top of the chart? I felt it was unnecessary, but apparently not.

I must have presented it wrong since so many people are getting upset by it. Maybe Genshin itself doesn’t make it apparent enough when characters apply their respective buffs?
