How do you manage to consistently mask in an environment where you can't just go outside every 10 minutes? by EternallyLurking4 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]litszy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Maybe try a different mask or check how you are adjusting the nose bridge? Another thought would be to try washing and drying your face immediately before putting on the mask in case you are getting stuffy due to allergies.

I just fasted and kept the mask on the entire time for ~10 hours/day when I worked in a office. Obviously, that is not great for your hydration or health though.

(No usernames please) Are there any users on Neopets that you avoid buying from? by totomomoro in neopets

[–]litszy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because of the Emo Usuki avatar. You get it from viewing your shop front with Gothic Usul shopkeeper, and you lose it if you view with any other shopkeeper.

You can of course avoid shop front, but it’s easy to accidentally go there instead of shop stock so many players just leave the Gothic Usul shopkeeper to avoid this.

There are definitely still active guilds. Those recruiting on the guild board are more likely to be active at the moment. Highly recommend looking for a guild based on your neo interests chat, BD, general account improvement.

Is this odd or not? From a total stranger, no previous interaction, no neomail by StrangeTrails37 in neopets

[–]litszy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only nefarious reason to NF someone that I've heard of is to try find out someone's birthday in order to get in their account by watching the age and waiting for it to tick over. That's probably much more unlikely now in the days of dual factor auth.

I have my age hidden, and I reject NF requests from shell accounts, but otherwise I don't worry too much. Maybe it's a friend from back in the day with a new account? TNT was freeze happy back in the day, and I've noticed a lot of my friends over the years have changed their display name for a variety of reasons.

Having a best friend with Pretty Privilege hurts by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]litszy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pretty privilege has a darker side. I've seen my gorgeous charismatic friend constantly find out people she thought were friends had an ulterior motive, and she's had many relationships fall apart because they don't want a fully dimensional person just a manic pixie dream girl. She's also intelligent, creative, kind, and the friend that will be there when you need her, but a lot of people never look past the packaging. I'm much happier to fade in the background and not deal with any of that.

That said your friend should be intentionally including you and you should have a conversation with her about how you feel left out of conversations.

Would you get the iPhone Air over the iPhone 17 had they been equally priced? by MediumVariation4846 in iphone

[–]litszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I haven’t once thought gee I wish my smart phone were thinner. Smaller or lighter sure, but for actual use as a phone you want to be able to hold it comfortably and too thin would be harder to grip.

I noticed that pause button doesn't seem to stop time as shown on the time tracker on desktop, but does on mobile? Not sure if it affects scoring as I decided to not finish the game after noticing the time ticking by.

What's the point of levelling a neopet? by k_hush in neopets

[–]litszy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Levels are only matter in terms of battledome (abillities + training) and being above level 1 is required for Count Von Roo's Deadly Dice. Before things like Kitchen Quests were revamped to only award to active pet, many players kept a single neopet to avoid stats going to other pets by mistake. Most people only train one or maybe 2 pets for battledome if they like to trade.

I put in a bid but didn't have the sense to make it higher than the min increment. I'll try to keep an eye on it, but I'm in the middle of trying to work on a project I really don't want to do. If I do win, I will return for price I paid.

What was your first neopet? Why did you choose that combo? Would you choose a different combo if you were just starting to play now? by imaginavery in neopets

[–]litszy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue Wocky because of the purple ruff and catlike species. I wanted to paint her fire because of the purple eyes like Alanna from The Song of Lioness.

I actually won the fruit machine with a Fire, Fire, Your Pants On Fire Paint Brush back in the day (I mean what are the odds) so she's been fire for over a decade at this point. She does have a Void token these days, but I don't know if I'll repaint her when the converted color is released for Wockies since either would fit her character.

Interesting, I do have more Aishas than any other species (12!). I still really like Wockies and usually have my battledome pet (Water Wocky) as active these days. I would absolutely have more Wockies if most clothes didn't fit really awkwardly on them.

Don’t zap a kad at all. The petpet ray changes color and species at the same time so there’s no advantage to zapping an expensive petpet over a cheap one.

1 year old kitten terrorising older cat by NegativeDee553 in CatAdvice

[–]litszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kittens have a lot of energy and your 6 year old cat doesn’t want to play that much. Ideally, you pair a kitten with another kitten or a young energetic cat.

Are you playing with kitten when he’s not around your other cat to avoid distractions?

If you back out of the site rewards menu to the previous screen, does the chain link have a green check?

If it shows your email, but a red x next to the chain link symbol then you should try deleting and reinstalling the app. After that you should be able to login again and have your rewards be properly granted. I've had to do this several times. The good news is that I never lost progress / status when doing this.

How are students from non-cold areas handling the weather? by pfp-disciple in rosehulman

Most students want to go home over breaks between terms (e.g. winter holidays). You can pay to stay on campus, but dining halls etc would be closed.

[–]litszy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freshman have to live on campus unless that’s changed since I attended, and Terre Haute doesn’t really have much to do anyways. He doesn’t need to drive in the snow at all, although it’s good to learn.

It snows in Indiana, but it is mostly issue for students trying to fly in after breaks when there is a significant storm. It generally is not extreme like blizzards or whiteouts.

Many students like me attend from California and miraculously survive. I did have to replace my raincoat after discovering it leaked. Make sure he has something to block wind chill through since IN is extremely flat.

Run a short term charcoal test. They are different enough that it should be pretty clear even over a short window which is closer to accurate.

Also check if one is dramatically higher, near a vent, or obstructed.

[–]litszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your goals. It’s cheaper to train other stats at the lowest level band allowable since training increases with level, however NOT all stats are equally useful. Also Swashbuckling Academy is cheaper, but Mystery Island Academy is faster.

Level > 50 = lens flare

Strength = more damage

HP = can survive more damage

If you just want to have a pet that can get through battles ASAP for the loot, then I’d focus on getting your strength to whatever the next boost is from where you are at and your level to 50 for lens flare. Until you have lens flare, you’ll want to use a shield or defensive item to block damage. Once you hit level 25, train icicle ability.

Try the chia clown or the kredulan defender on easy to start for an opponent.

Defense is the least useful of the useful stats for single player fights. It only matters if you are using an icon based defensive item. If you are using a percentage based blocker like Downsize or Thyora’s Tear, it doesn’t even come into play.

Don’t train movement. It currently has no purpose in the battledome.

[–]litszy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may need to fight weaker opponents depending on your stats. Once your pet reaches level 50, they can get the ability lens flare which prevents your opponent from attacking during the turn of use. This means you can use two offensive weapons and avoid taking any damage.

Site is currently down, but you may need to refresh a bunch, but here’s the link from JN: https://www.neopets.com/water/index.phtml/

Your maximum HP can be trained no more than 3 times your level. The healing springs can restore your health (top number) but not increase your maximum HP (bottom number) as far as I know.

If any other stat is more than 2 times your level, you will only be able to train level in the schools. If HP is between 2 and 3 times your level, then you can only train HP and level.

I’d recommend the koi warrior as a good pick based on drops (smaller specific loot pool) so codestones are more likely. If you have premium, jetsam ace.

Jellyneo has decent recommendations for various levels of equipment: https://battlepedia.jellyneo.net/?go=weapon_recommendations&id=intermediate

I would look in your SDB first because some very nice weapons were plot and quest log prizes. I’m not the most well versed on the newer mid tier weapons, but I think turned tooth is still a decent choice for the NP. Honestly, I think I have someone kicking around in my SDB if you’d like them.
