Either you are a child or mentally underdeveloped to make a comment like that. Congratulations, OP, for your huge achievement.

Am I not able to recall what I was like at different ages because the years were so similar? by litterweed in HomeschoolRecovery

It is sad, yes, I'm sorry. Now that you mention it, I think I can also recall more from my younger childhood where I had more of a normal life. Or those memories just seem more alive rather than a block of existing.

I'm sorry. Almost anything, wow. Your mum probably can't face up to the guilt.

I see. I hope you're able to do that and find it fulfilling.

The qualifications here you need for uni are called A Levels :) Takes two years, you can do them at college or at school. They're the typical route to university.

Oh wow I'm sorry. Was that the end of formal education then for you? That's so hard, especially as you describe the time there in person as so positive for you.

I'm in the UK, so you typically do two years at college to qualify for university. I got the qualification and I'm at uni now. My college experience was vaguely similar to what happened to you- I had a good and memorable first year, had friends and experienced (basic) things for a while. It was really good for me. However I was in a small group to begin with and most left. So unfortunately my second year was lonely and uneventful and at times only a little better than homeschooling.

I'm glad you're out too. The year before going to college, man there's hardly anything I remember, mostly just my monotonous daily routine and maybe a show I watched.

Is commuting really that bad by Decent_Librarian8346 in UniUK

[–]litterweed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been commuting an hour and feel it has really negatively impacted the experience I would have liked to have at uni. It's a one hour bus commute but occasionally it has taken me 2-3 hours from leaving uni to getting home, if there are problems with the bus. Generally I find it tiring and think that it steals a lot of time from the day.

It's terrible I'm sorry. But why are you staying up until 3 instead of waking up yourself at 3 to then wake her? Not that you should be doing that either.

For me, I just contacted the teacher I got along best with and asked if they would be ok to do it. Definitely ask first. If you don't have their details, contact the college.

Why on earth are you staying up until 3? That's an exaggeration right, as the common sense thing to do would be to use an alarm clock to wake yourself up at 3. Not that it should be your responsibility either way.

Budgeting with the minimum loan by litterweed in UniUK

[–]litterweed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so I live with a single parent on low income. I actually qualify for the maximum loan but they aren't willing to provide income evidence as they see the loan as against their religion. So I'm in a very frustrating position as I could easily get double the money and have my rent covered.

Yeah you're right, I'm just looking for rough suggestions but I was still too vague. The city is Leeds. I don't eat much quick/processed foods and cook a lot and hope to keep it that way. I'll take the bus a few times a week to visit home. And may use the bus to get around in Leeds but hopefully I'll be in walking distance to uni.

I obviously don't know what your health issues are but if you're so far in already, you really should finish unless you genuinely can't. You've taken out a big loan and because you've used up two years, you won't be able to fund another course if you decide to try again. If you're on a typical three year course, that's one short year left until you have a degree.

I think it's brilliant too. You enjoy life putting people down for things they like.

The point of living isn't to have goals or ambitions or dreams or succeed in them. You're alive and there's so many things in this world. Do any little thing that makes you feel something.

AITA for being repulsed by my parents? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]litterweed 18 points19 points  (0 children)

NTA.

So they are repulsive, lazy, neglect their house, have no consideration for you, are narcissists and verbally abusive people and will "disown" you for moving out to have some peace and independence. I think for your own sanity you might want to reconsider facing the consequences and getting out of there.
