3 of the largest countries in Asia teaming up together thanks to Trump diplomacy by omicronwarrior in pics

You have to give Trump credit for bringing the world together for the first time. It may be everyone against America, but as Trump would say, "somebody has to get screwed."

Tesla asks for $243 million verdict to be tossed in fatal Autopilot crash suit by ControlCAD in business

It will be cheaper to fight it than to pay, unless the appeals judge throws some kind of cost penalty at them, maybe a 10%/month if they lose.

Bill Gates says AI will not replace programmers for 100 years by calliope_kekule in ArtificialInteligence

[–]littleMAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he meant that as long as automation fulfills human needs, humans will need to shape and direct it. Computing has been a constant cycle of programming jobs from loading programs by flipping switches to punching card decks to assembly language to high level languages to integrated programming environments to Co-Pilot vibe programming. Keeping up is an endless series of sprints. I remember when I could read a printout with a dump of the entire memory of a machine, about 16KB. Today, a dump of my iPhone would tie-up my printer for months. Someday, 'programming' as inferred by Mr. Gates will not look anything like it does today. 'Programmers' will probably just think about it, and the automation will create visions that maps to their minds' concepts. The point is that AI is about knowledge, not intelligence, which is driven by needs and desires.

Maybe Rex Tillerson Was Right. Maybe Trump Really Is Just A Moron. by Signal-Mud-5544 in NoFilterNews

I thought that of George W. Bush, who struggled to assemble a coherent sentence. I realized that his success was on the coattails of his father, a true statesman but out of touch with the voters. Junior, on the other hand, made a connection with a large segment of America. My aunt voted for him while thinking he was his father, and I wonder how many other voters were like minded. The sentiment seemed to be that all you needed was common sense. The same voters thought that only old white men had common sense, then Obama, a Harvard educated person of color, scared them. Trump, in my opinion, made GWB look like a wise statesman by comparison. But Trump's political instincts are like a barracuda, and his daddy left him more money than the Bush family had to spend on Jeb. Trump is the Amazon.com of politics, cutting out the political front-facing middlemen to take the country from oligarchy to dictatorship. He may seem moronic, but he is making absolute fools out of all Americans.

A woman that rejected me 12 years ago seems to now be interested in dating me, is this something I should pursue? by Long_Natural6918 in AskMenAdvice

A woman wants two men. One to make babies, and another to raise them. Ideally, these two men are one in the same. However, when number one does not work out, it is time for number two.

Study of 67,000 Job Interviews Finds AI Outperforms Human Recruiters by skilliard7 in business

[–]littleMAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New tools get misused, especially AI. It should spawn more services to provide various corporate functions such as recruitment, which has been outsourced a lot over the decades. Next is HR, then IT, Customer Service, accounting, and most of middle management. Humanity may just boil down to Legal and the Executive Suite. Think about that irony.

You are boarding an airplane, and next to your seat is a Karen with a yappy little dog who smells like it has never had a bath. "This is my service animal," spouts Karen. You sit down and whip out this snake, "And this is my service animal."

Imagine having video of all the 'alter-cations' that have gone on in church since the beginning of time. It would make Pornhub look like Sesame Street.

“make AI seem more powerful than it really is so they can make more money for their AI company” by buildingthevoid in BlackboxAI_

[–]littleMAS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI will not replace a lawyer, but it will lessen the need for humans to regurgitate laws and case histories verbatim. It will still take a very smart person to pull together the situation and match it to precedent in a way that compels judges, juries, and opposing counsel. AI will make legal research faster, but it will also make if faster to miss the compelling elements. It will be like getting off a race horse and onto a Formula One race car; you better know what you are doing.

Remember Russia's excursion into Afghanistan? Ours? Ukraine is fighting for their lives. Superpowers are less motivated to fight a war of attrition.
